Why is Jack Morris not in the Baseball Hall of Fame?
The winningest pitcher of the 80's not being inducted is a travesty. 10 inning shutout in the World Series is huge by itself. Numbers don't lie, these voters are idiots. If anyone has a good answer as to why he shouldn't be in I'd like to hear them. Thanks.

- It's not a travesty. His ERA is way too high. He got great run support. He never won a CY Young or a major award. If it wasn't for his post season success, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
- Doesn't have 100 more wins than losses Doesn't have 300 wins 3.90 ERA is slightly higher. 0 Cy Young awards, of course.
- I would give him my vote. But the biggest knock on him is that he consistently had a higher ERA than the rest of his team. I find that to be a really wierd thing and wonder how he could do that but still have a better winning percentage than the rest of his team.
- Career ERA+ shows he was slightly above average, who cares how many wins he got, that's about the worst way to judge a pitcher. He was never a dominant pitcher, just above average for a long time. Sorry, but above average doesn't cut it.
- He didn't pay the baseball writers enough or suck up to them as a player.
- Doesn't have 100 more wins than losses Doesn't have 300 wins 3.90 ERA is barely higher. and, 0 Cy Young awards.
- His stats are just not "the best" and the hall of fame is for the best, Jack was above average and sometimes, above average isn't good enough.
- You said numbers don't lie, he doesn't have the numbers..247 wins is short. Post season performance would be included if the career numbers supported inclusion..but not on post season performance alone.
- 254 wins? Tommy John had 288 and a lot better era and he won't get in. Sorry Jack just does not cut it with his numbers.
- An icon like he is deserves to be there. Ask the writers, who are in love with stats. Never mind GREATNESS. What does the Hall of Fame has to do with GREATNESS, anyway.
- A better question is why Bert Blyleven isn't in the Hall. More wins, 1,300 more Ks, much better ERA. 'nuff said.
