How is Pete Rose not in the Baseball Hall Of Fame, yet Paul Hornung is in the Football Hall Of Fame?

Both were found to have done the same thing and both were suspended for it, yet Hornung is in the Pro Football HOF? Someone explain this to me please??

1. The only reason why Pete Rose is not in the Hall of Fame is because he bet on games while he was in the league, and then he lied about doing it. If Pete Rose had gone to the league and said like "yea i did bet on games and im sorry i did and ill never do it again", but its not the case. He bet on games (he played) and then lied about not doing it. Also Paul Hornung is in the Hall of Fame because the Baseball and Football punishment is totally different. Thats the only reason why.
2. Baseball made a scapegoat and an example out of Rose. They did the same to Shoeless Joe Jackson. They better not let steroid head Bonds in as long as Rose and Jackson are left out.
3. Each Hall is independent and has its own policies. The Baseball Hall does NOT want Rose. I don't know anything about Hornung, nor particularly care to learn.
4. Baseball is trying to set an example by keeping Rose out of the HOF because he gambled. Its really time to put this to rest, and induct the man for what he accomplished "on the field"; thats what the NFL did with Hornung. Rose's induction is loooooooooooong overdue.
5. Pete Rose knowingly broke the rules - even going so far as to bet on his own team. Afterwards, he lied about having done so, and finally after he admitted to betting he showed no remorse. The last one was the killer - Rose was on the verge of being allowed back into baseball - but even long time friends and supporters such as Mike Schmidt abandoned the cause after that. Don't blame baseball - most in baseball would love for Rose to be in the HOF, they are aware of how much publicity that would generate. But, they also have to protect the game from the temptations of gamblers or it will become a joke much like wrestling. Pete Rose was done in by his own demons. Baseball, Fay Vincent, and other all played a role but ultimately it was Rose's choices that have sealed his fate. I also believe that the legions of Pete Rose apologists have played a role by encouraging Pete to believe in his own infallibility and sheltering him from the realities of his actions. Yes, there are liars and cheaters already in the hall (Ty Cobb and Gaylord Perry come to mind immediately), but using past mistakes to justify a future mistake is not very wise. I think the Rose's and Bonds' of the world should be reason to re-visit and even remove some past inductees.
6. Politics. he should be... The current commissioner Bud Selig and his buds, are keeping him out. Bud the biggest crook of all..
7. PETE ROSE BELONGS IN THE BASEBALL HALL OF FAME AND ALL YOU MORONS THAT THINK DIFFERENTLY CAN HAVE SOME OF DEEZ NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!
8. It's two different things. Hornung was not betting on his own team and came clean when confronted. Rose buried himself by lieing for 12 years. I'm a huge Pete Rose fan, but he is getting exactly what he deserves.
9. football has no pride , no history, no class,,,,,football is just popular because it is the #1 gambling sport in america!!
