Could and would a new, young commisioner put Pete Rose in the Baseball Hall of Fame?

I don't know who has the power to ban people from the hall, but I think when someone new comes in as commisioner that grew up watching Pete dominate pitchers, they would most definitely try to make it happen.

  1. I don't believe the Comish has the power to put people in the Hall. They have to be voted in. Rose won't be going in the Hall because he is banned. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
  2. Understanding how it might work really improves the quality of your question. The commissioner (whomever it is) has the power to reinstate Rose. Hall policy says that banished players cannot be considered; thus Rose's only pathways to the Hall are (a) reistatement or (b) change in Hall policy. And option (b) ain't gonna happen. Does Rose deserve reinstatement? No. Let's repeat that: No. He's not innocent, and his term of expulsion, "permanent", has not yet expired. That leaves Rose one nanoscopic chance -- EARNING reinstatement by reforming his life and making himself a much better person who might, just might, merit reconsideration. But that doesn't appear to be happening either, and his cadre of apologists are more interested in whining for Rose to be handed grace rather than taking an active role in helping him earn it. All of Rose's fate is upon him by his own hands.
  3. Put Rose in the Hall 'o fame Pete Rose only admitted to gambling after 15 years because he was sick of the same question "Did you bet on base" \ Either put him in the HOF or get rid of all his records
  4. Why not? Baseball is already a joke. They'll do anything to sell tickets.
  5. If I was commissioner I would reinstate him and make him eligible. He deserves to be in there.
