Joe DiMaggio

Will any player elected to the baseball hall of fame ever receive 100% of the vote?

Do you think it will ever happen? I mean if Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle never got 100% of the vote how can anyone except it to ever happen? Hell, Joe DiMaggio was NOT a first ballot hall of famer either. What's that say about the baseball writers association?

  1. Greg Maddux will be in the Hall of Fame 100 % by the time he is eligible.
  2. No. Will never happen. Most recently, Cal Ripken and Nolan Ryan didn't even make it to 100%. I do however, think that the process is a good one. I hate Skip Bayless, however, the one good thing out of his mouth, is that it's "The Hall of Fame, not The Hall of Very Good". You need strict guidelines, checks and balances, etc........
  3. no
  4. If Aaron and Mays didn't, no one will. The highest vote total ever was Seaver.
  5. There are a few sportwriters who say these guys didn't get a 100 so he won't, it's literally the only reason or they didn't like them as a rival team
  6. I think percentages should count very little, it's not like Seaver was the best player of all time. I hate when voters don't vote for a player on their first year of eligibility because they're not "first-ballot hall of famers". You're a HOF or your not. That's probably why there will never be a player to receive 100% of the vote. If A-Rod hits 800 home runs he won't get 100% because many people don't like him that much. It's not all about stats, if it was there would be a few 100% but you've got hundreds of voters and there's bound to be people who are rubbed the wrong way by a player, no matter how great they are.
  7. Most likely, it will never happen. It seems to me that people that vote, will always find reason to vote for a player for the hall of fame, and 100% will mean that everybody voted for that player. And I bet there have been plenty of players that were like this, were they just weren't good enough.
  8. If the voters weren't dumb, Barry Bonds would get a 100% vote.
  9. No i think the only posibility to get 100% of the votes is if you were a fan favorite. A hitter would need like 1000 Homeruns 1200 Doubles or more 600 Triples or more 5000+ Hits 3000 RBI's 15 Time Gold Glover Test negative for steroids (Of course they would be accused) etc. Then again they may not make it. Pitchers would need like 800 Wins 200 Losses 6000+ Strikeouts 1000- Walks Whip of .800 ERA of 2.50- Again test negative for steroids and may not even make it 100% That is never going to have and the only time it may happen is in like the year 5000 and by then that could even be considered bad maybe.
  10. No one will ever have a 100% because there will always be someone who doesn't like the player so they won't vote for them
  11. As long as the human factor is part of the equation, imperfection follows. The baseball writers and others who are involved in the hall of fame voting are not perfect. They have likes and dislikes. Part of those likes and dislikes are either for or against certain players. I recently heard a sports writer with a HOF vote say that he felt that no one deserves 100% acknowledgment into the hall. That if his vote was the determining factor and whether he believed a person belonged, he would not vote for him just "because". It's insane I know but these are the type of people making these types of decisions. To answer your question, no it will never happen. 100% means that everyone with a vote has to see a certain player in a certain way. Impossible! If Ruth, Mantle, even Tom "Terrific" didn't get 100% than no one will.
