Should Pete Rose be allowed in the Baseball Hall of Fame?

I say yes. There are plenty of players in the hall of fame that have done much worse things. Pete changed baseball forever, need proof? 4,192.

  1. yes
  2. Yes, he should be allowed in.
  3. no hes a liar.
  4. NO !
  5. I agree completely. He, of all people, should be allowed in the hall of fame. So what if he was betting on sports. It's not like he was betting on his own games.
  6. Yes, What he did in his personal life had nothing to do with his Baseball career.
  7. Yes. As soon as he admits his failings or dies.
  8. I think he should be allowed in. He gambled, but it was never shown that he bet on his own team or on a game that he had any influence over. Also, he never used steroids and the current players are going to have to deal with that. He was known as "Charlie Hustle" because of the way he played the game. Let him in!!
  9. He definitely should be allowed. MLB can be very hypocrite. They kicked out Pete Rose for gambling but they gave so many chances to Darryl Strawberry and other low life druggies like him.
  10. Yes, his numbers while he was in the game are what earned him a sport in the HOF not what happened while he was a manager. This is different than say Barry Bonds because Bonds is doing his illegal activities to put up the numbers that will get him considered for the HOF.
  11. The man was all guts, played with heart everyday, never a slacker. His on field talent should be enough to get him into the hall. My problem is he never really admitted to the public and baseball itself that he was wrong. He kind of but not really did this last time.....for one I don't think it was enough. Admit your fully wrong Pete, you were too good a player to not be there.
  12. yes, for the very last time for a gambling indescretion pete rose and "shoeless" joe jackson should be allowed in the hall. After all they definetly earned it on the field. but it should be made clear to every past, present and future major league player if you gamble on your sport you will never ever be allowed, PERIOD!!!
  13. I don't see a difference between betting on the game (Rose), and playing the game while using steroids (many). Let him in.
  14. Yes, Pete should be allowed in the Hall. What he did or did not do in his private life should not have anything to do with his professional achievements. Unless, his activities gave him an unfair advantage on the field.
  15. Of Course he should he is the Hit King. Also, he didnt use steroids to improve his play; he did it with his own skill.
  16. I really don't know. Gambling on games is really serious and it isn't that long since they did that. Maybe the steroid era will make the committee reconsider, though.
  17. No. This irks me to no end. How can anyone even remotely think that what he did was ok? What Pete Rose did was NOT ok, and it never will be. Not only should he NEVER be allowed to be voted into the HOF, he should NEVER be allowed anywhere near that Sacred Institute.
  18. I used to say yes but I felt that, when he released his book, it was a slap in the face to MLB: a way for him to profit off of his wrongdoings. I feel that what Pete did was horribly wrong. Betting on baseball is about the worse thing that a MLB player can do, even worse than steroids. It reminds baseball of its past where this actually seriously did damage the integrity of the game to a point where it took someone of the stature of Babe Ruth to bring it back to respectability. MLB must always protect from that ever happening again. But even then, I was ready to say that Pete served his time...just admit what you did wrong, apologize, be a man. He couldn't even do that. It is a shame, our all-time hit leader, one of the most dedicated and hard working players ever. No, I don't think that he should be in the HOF.
  19. NO WAY! Anyone who argues that he didn't bet on his own team is being naive. If he is enshrined then Joe Jackson should be put in too.
  20. YES, without a doubt Pete Rose should be allowed into the hall of fame. I know what he did was wrong and it clearly states in baseball rules that betting on baseball is illegal and if caught you will be banned from further participation in baseball it does NOT say that you will be banned from being in the "Hall of Fame". HOWEVER, Pete Rose was an awesome players and has achieved many things which entitles him into the hall of fame. He did not get caught betting on baseball as a player, he got caught betting as a manager and even though it was wrong he still holds records that earn him the right to be in the Hall of Fame. That is what the Hall is for.
