Who has best chance of breaking Joe Dimaggio's 56 game consecutive hit streak?
I'm thinking its Ichiro but he hasn't had any streaks above about 10 this year and he might be getting a little old. I know Robinson Cano is playing great could he have a better chance?

- martin prado, he's a hitting monster
- Robinson Cano is the best pure hitter in the game today, and he might become one of the best we've ever seen. He does have the best shot at breaking that record, but it won't be easy for him.
- Ichiro is definitely the best hitter in the MLB and the most consistent and seems to put up a 20+ game hitting streak every year
- right now Hamilton and Callaspo both have hit streaks in the mid 20s. who knows...maybe one will get there. but i dont think it will ever be broken.
- this year josh hamilton in the future maybe jason heyward
- I think Cano has a very good chance to have a great hitting streak. Other players that could do it could be Hanley Ramirez, if he gets his act together, Joe Mauer, or Chase utley
- Ichiro definitely has the best chance. Miguel Cabrera and Cano are tied for second.
- i doubt it will be broken in the next 50 years
- i hope it never happens
- Gordon Beckham, hahahahahahahahahahaha
- no one! at least not the players that are in the MLB right now! we will have to wait and see in the next 10-20 years maybe a great hitter like Joe Dimaggio will come along!
- I-chi-ro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hes the best hitter ever that guy is a speed MONSTER hes officialy the second fastest player in MLB history!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the first was willy maze:|
- If any one Ichiro Suzuki but really don't look for it to be broken anytime soon Joe DiMaggio played in a very different era
- Ichiro is a popular guess, but his career high streak is 27 games. He gets lots of hits in bunches. Joe Mauer hits for a high average, but he walks too much. Robinson Cano is a good candidate, and this year gives weight to the suggestion he will become a true star. I personally vote for Billy Butler, because he's a smart hitter who makes the most out of the pitches he's given. If the Royals get a good bat to protect him in the lineup, I think he'll see a lot more fastballs, and can put together a real streak, and capture a batting title. Butler, I think, has the best chance, but I still don't think he or anyone else playing the game right now can break DiMaggio's record.
- I think Robinson Cano, a Yankee player, will have the best chance of breaking Dimaggio's record one day soon. He's having a great season and is likely to win multiple batting titles in his career. Other players to look out for are Ryan Zimmerman (30-game hit streak in 2009), Joe Mauer and even Ichiro Suzuki. They, too, could be a threat to Dimaggio's record in the near future. Remember that Pete Rose was the closest threat to Dimaggio's record in 1978 when he had a 44-game hit streak at age 37. Of course, Pete was just a very good hitter which is the reason he is the all-time hits king with over 4,000 hits.
