Joe DiMaggio

In your opinion, which player is most likely to break Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak?

Just your opinion. Thanks. :)

  1. Jimmy Rollins if he stays healthy.
  2. ichiro, im surprised he has not already.
  3. ichiro
  4. Utley, Pujols, Chipper Jones, Abreu. If they stay healthy. Pat Burrell has a very sweet swing, but won't stay in such a great streak.
  5. Manny, if he stays quiet.
  6. No one will ever, ever, ever break that record. I believe that is greatest record in sports. If someone were ever to come close, it will be some slap hitter, a .250 hitter who goes 1-4 or 2-5 everygame. Someone like Aaron Hill or David Eckstein in Toronto, or Ichiro. No power hitters. Story about Dimaggio. He had two brothers who played pro ball, and both put together incredible hit streaks (one in the minors, the other in the majors). His one brother had a thirty something hit streak going, and would have continued it if a brilliant diving catch hadn't been made by his older brother, Joe. Crazy. Also, after DiMaggio finally went a game without a hit, he went on to hit in another 19 straight. That's essentially a 75 game hit streak, with one game missing in the middle. Incredible.
  7. Ichiro Suzuki or Derek Jeter.
  8. god...I mean Ichiro.
  9. Ichiro can break his record. He gets 200 hits every year. To me, he should've broke DiMaggio's record of 56 games with hits a long time ago.
  10. Never Happen. Just like someone hitting .400 in this day and age of baseball...
  11. Its a record that we may not see get broken, but if someone were to break it,I think it would be a left-handed bat that can consistently hit for high average.(Utley,Ichiro,Mauer,etc.)
  12. If you would have asked this question 10 years ago, I would have said Tony Gwynn. Today...? I do not see it happening.
  13. Albert Pujols. Joe DiMaggio is the guy most people compare Prince Albert with. There are good reasons, primarily because Pujols is patient and will often shorten his swing with two strikes. Mind, I don't think he will actually DO it, but I bet he comes up with a big long streak before too long.
  14. IMO Nate McLouth would be a likely candidate to break Joe Dimaggio's hitting streak because so far he had a hittiing streak of 17-18 games. If he continues to hit the way he's hitting then he could beat the streak
  15. i dont tyhink this will ever be broken its so though now these days and i see no one breaking the record yetr another good question and an another star
  16. no one in the majors right now
  17. don't see it being done
  18. derek jeter <3
  19. Willy Taveras, if he plays everyday. I really think he's a great player and it's my opinion.
  20. Ichiro will probably break the record. He is a very consistent player.
  21. Chase Utley! if Joe Mauer was a DH or played any position other than catcher he would.
  22. I don't fore see it happening anytime in the near future. The past 25 years the closest has been Molitor in 1987 at 39 games, he was still 17 games short. The media coverage was intense then, just imagine if a guy got to 45 this day in age, it would be insane. I'd love to see it happen, but I think we're more likely to see someone hit 80 home runs, or a .400 average before we see someone hit in 56 straight. Just my opinion.
  23. I agree with one of the other responders - Ichiro or Jeter have the best chance.
