Why aren't there any cheerleaders in Major League Baseball?

I attended the first major league baseball game in China. It was a great historic event, but I was perplexed by the Chinese cheerleaders. I am wondering why the MLB doesn't have cheerleaders?

3. Great question! Where would they cheer? It would be too dangerous for the cheerleaders, and they would have nowhere to stand.

5. As of last year there was only one team that had cheerleaders and that was florida marlins and they are pointless.
6. I dont think there's any space on the field...also, it would probably distract the players. They could get hit by foul balls, flying bats etc. and interfere with the game
7. It would be do dangerous with the foul balls. I don't think they need cheerleaders, they need some kind of dancers though or 7th inning entertainment. I live in Chicago and the Blackhawks (hockey) have these Hawk Girls. They keep the folks entertained and they even scoop up the loose ice between whistles!
8. Hockey first, thanks. Cheerleaders are for lesser sports where the crowd needs something to fixate upon so they drool less between microbursts of on-field action.
9. Geez, cheerleaders... I think I would be permenantly preturbed and never go to a baseball game again.

11. If there were cheerleaders in mlb, I don't think they would be allowed to do their job during the game, maybe between innings, to avoid distracting hitters or fielders. Still, I don't think they belong in baseball. Baseball fans are more than enough to cheer the teams and make a good game atmosphere, unlike other sports.

13. cheerleaders are only usefull in sports like football and basketball,( the hockey "cheerleaders" are sucky,they arent even cheerleaders or dancers in my opinion, they really dont do anything, stupid gary bettman RANT OVER, sorry bout that) but yea, theres really no place for them to stand and they;ll probably scream and and shreek at foul balls they'll probably get hit too, most of the ones ive come across, arent very smart, i was a cheerleader for like 8 years so i should know
