In your lifetime, do you ever see another Major League Baseball team expand into Canada?

In 1969, the Montreal Expos became the Major League Baseball team to play in Canada and in 1977, the Toronto Blue Jays became a Major League Baseball Team. Although the Toronto Blue Jays have played in Canada for 30 years, the Montreal Expos left Montreal in 2004 and relocated to Washington, DC. Although there is only one MLB Team in Canada, do you ever see another MLB Team either as an expansion team or as a relocation team in Canada? Why or why?

  1. I never understood having MLB teams in Canada since it's "America's Pastime". I don't think there will ever be another Canadian baseball team in the MLB. I'm sure there will be other professional baseball teams there, just none associated with the majors. I actually think they will eventually move the Blue Jays to a place where there is no team. A place where there isn't a stadium in driving distance, such as North Eastern Montana or Central Idaho. One day they might be called the Boise Blue Jays. It has a nice ring to it. Edit: I almost forgot... There's hardly any money or profit in the Blue Jays franchise. They hardly ever sell out games and don't sell nearly enough merchandise. Canada is more into hockey and it shows every time you watch the Blue Jays and Canucks. The Canucks always have double the ticket sales. So it would also make sense money wise to move them out of Canada.
  2. Economics play a huge part. With the exchange rate and the provisional taxes, making a finacially sound corporation in the Canada is much more difficult. Detatching my brain, I would love to see Montreal or Ottawa in the East and Vancouver in the West, with possibly Edmonton/Calgary making 4. But, sadly, money makes the world go 'round.
  3. NO, because Canada can't handle American Sports except for Toronto.
  4. As a Canadian myself, it depends. You put a baseball franchise in Montreal, It's fails. You put a Basketball franchise in Vancouver, it fails. You put any sport in Toronto, it thrives. If another baseball franchise is coming to Canada, It's going to be in Toronto. EDIT. We don't sell games because this team isn't going anywhere. In the early 90's we had 50,000 a game because the Jays at that time had a more desire to win.
