Is it true that as the New York Yankees go, so goes the stock market?

I remember reading an article that when the Yankees are good, the US economy is fine. The Yankees didn't make the playoffs this year and now look at things! This there could be a socio-psychological reason for this?

4. Another interesting myth is that the stock market goes as women's hemlines go. The shorter the skirts, the better the market! I like it.
