Will Jaba Chamberlain end up as a starter on the New York Yankees pitching staff this year 2008?
Jaba Chamberlain has proven to be a great bullpen pitcher with durability and extremely overpowering pitches so far. The Yankees starting pitching staff is completely different than it has been in years and many people argue whether or not Jaba should become a starter or remain in the bullpen. What do you think would be the best for the New York Yankees this year - Gary Dominicus

- Yes he will. The Yankees will start him in the bullpen as the bridge setup guy to Rivera then move him into the starting rotation around June, or earlier if there is an injury to a starter. The Yankees have a limit of 140 innings for Chamberlain in 2008.
- he will get hurt in april and wont be a factor all year, just watch.
- right now they have him in the bullpen, they have plans for moving him to rotation near june
- I don't see why not. They need all the help they can get.
- I think he will stay in the bullpen. You said it yourself, he is EXTREMELY strong out of the bullpen, and that is what the Yanks were looking for going into the pre-season. They needed a good reliever, not an additional starter. I think the Yanks would be better off to keep him in the pin this season, and maybe consider bumping him up next pre-season.
- His name is Joba not Jaba anyway, I like how this kid is turning out to be an awesome pitcher. Even if he does not turn into a starter I feel like this guy could be the next Mariano Rivera I took him on my Fantasy League(Im surprised he fell to the 19th round!)
- Yes. The Yankees will have him become a starter since he is so good and will encourage the entire team.
- Not unless we have a serious injury or Musina start's to fall appart early in the yr ,like he did last yr.I heard Musina is not going to pitch all yr BADLY like he did last yr.He cost us alot of wins,So it's either one injurys or Musina. The Mosse has to do good there's no more Torre going to bat for him,Girardi is not going to put up with his excusses.
- I think he might be better off in the bullpen, and have you ever though he's being groomed to eventually replace Mariano. His arm has thrown alot of pitches, and when goes, he'll go in a hurry, and who else do they have???
- GOD I HOPE NOT! I think The Yankees will have enough starting pitching and after Off season theyll add more... In Chamberlain, God, or Fait, Or providence, WHATEVER, has given the answer to a Question that would have haunted the Yankees For years.. How do you Replace Mariano rivera? Well.. DUH! He has been dropped into their laps, .. The Yankees have Won in Passed years BECAUSE of Starting Pitching but More so Because Rivera was Death Coming out of the Pen for Other Teams... Joba is Special,, Leave him in Pen.
- Not sure how Jaba will be, but I think Joba will do fine. At least know the names of the players.
- NO I think he will be coming in to relieve. He needs more practice at starting.
- No. He is way to good in the pen. You don't take chances with a young pitchers confidence like that. Also, Mariano doesn't have much longer in the closing role.
