New York Yankees Hoping for the Championship?
Hey Yankees fans, The New York Yankees right now look unbeatable. Is there any team right now that you think could give the Yankees trouble come postseason time.
Public Comments
- Boston Red Sox
- well the red sox are a very good team i wouldn't count on beating them out to soon
- no yankees rule
- I'm a Yankees fan too, I think the Tigers could give them trouble because Verlander and Jackson are both having very good years. Also, if we make it to the world series, I think both the Cardinals and the Phillies could give them trouble because they both have a very good 1-2 punch in pitching (Carpenter and Wainwright, and Lee or Happ/Hamels) and a good 1-2 punch in hitting (Pujols and Holliday, and Utley and Howard). I think the Yankees are looking like the favorites here though, but you never know in the playoffs. Go Yankees!
- Yeah they are playing ridiculously well right now. But there is still a month left, you never know. Red Sox are heating up right now, even though they haven't performed well against the Yankees if the Yankees cool down a bit the Sox could give em trouble. There's a reason that the Wild Card teams have won so often. Pressure to make it to the postseason = a hot team.
- Every team is potential trouble in the post season. That's the nature of a short series. But the Yanks look like the favorites right now.
- Every team hopes for the championship. Obviously if the Yankees play as well or even better than they are now, they would be hard to beat in October. However, everybody knows that there's a very good reason why they play the games and nothing can be assumed. If the Red Sox come back to full strength, they will win some playoff games, and if the Angels continue to hit like they have, they'll also have a good shot at going deep into the playoffs. If the Tigers can get their act together they'll also have a pretty decent team, assuming they don't shit the bed and get overtaken by the Twins. But the Vegas odds are probably going to favor the Yankees by a fair amount.
- I think the biggest problem for us will be, if we face them, the LA Angels. I'm going to be completely honest, I will be terrified if the Yankees have to face them in the postseason. The Angels just kill the Yankees, especially out in Anaheim. The Angels have a strong pitching staff, and a dominant closer. Ervin Santana has been pitching better, and put him with Jarred Weaver and John Lackey and they have a formidable, and very scary top three in their rotation. Plus, that team knows how to win. Mike Scoscia (don't think I spelled that right) is one of the best managers in baseball. He has a team that has won in the postseason before. They know how to come back in any game. They play small ball. They bunt, and go first to third. They get runners in with less than two outs. And they come up with clutch hits. The Angels, other than the Yankees, are the best team in the AL. And considering their recent success against the Yankees, they would be, I think, the most trouble come postseason. Tigers scare me a little with Verlander and Jackson, but we're 5-1 against the Tigers this year, and our top 2 matches their top 2. We have the stronger offense, plus we have dominated the central, so I think we can get past the Tigers if we play them (which seems likely right now). Anything happens in the postseason, but I think the LA Angels represent the biggest challenge to the Yankees in a possible ALDS (thats if Texas overtakes the Angels but the Angels get the Wild Card), or ALCS. However, this Yankee team can beat anyone. They've shown that a number of times this year. They are the team to beat. They are that good. And all Yankees fans, and true fans of other teams, knows that is true. We need to go out and get it done. LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!
