Should the current season's stats be the primary consideration in selecting players for the All-Star Game? I'm a Red Sox fan, but I have a real problem with how many votes Red Sox and Yankees players get in the All-Star ballot. It's a total sham. There is no way Dustin Pedroia, Julio Lugo, Manny Ramirez, or even David Ortiz should be among the top vote-getters this season. Yet if you look at the current leaders in the AL, there is no ballotted Red Sox or Yankees player who isn't somewhere near the top. Incidentally, A-Rod and Jeter totally deserve to start this year, and I voted for them. I did not vote for any Sox, because the only ones playing All-Star caliber baseball are Mike Lowell and Kevin Youkilis; Lowell is overshadowed by A-Rod, and Youkilis isn't on the ballot because of Ortiz. I know this debate is brought up every year. Maybe MLB should come up with a stat-based formula and whoever is highest on that index at every position, earns a spot? Clearly as fans we are not capable of voting objectively, and believe it or not, I am tired of it always being a two-team show
how don't the dodgers have a legit all star? they have the freakin best record in baseball and dont have anyone in the all star game. manny might not even make it... orlando hudson is tied for the most hits in the nl. hes been on fire and i must say, adrian gonzalez should be startin at first too
Will the continuation of steroid allegations in MLB permanently tarnish the credibility of the sport? Well, in a way it already has. Unfortunately. MLB will be forever be seen by the majority as a 'cheating' sport regardless of how many drug tests get administered. Manny Ramirez...Alex Rodriguez...and eventually Albert Pujols will join the cast of scapegoats for the baseball era of of 'roids. Trust me. It's almost stating the inevitable to happen. Agree? Isn't it funny that Barry Bonds, out of all the other baseball stars that we can put in a hat, has yet to be proven guilty? What does that tell you about the media, politics, the game surrounding baseball, and Barry's Legacy vs. those players that have already been convicted yet are still playing and being 'praised' out on the field (Alex Rodiguez, Jason Giambi, and Manny Ramirez, just to name a few)?

Why should fans have a vote in the All-Star game (please hear me out first)? The moment the game went from exhibition to high stakes the fans should cease to be involved in making decisions. Since home field is on the line I think it is very wrong of baseball to let fans make decisions. I do think fans do have the right to a vote in an exhibition but this is clearly not the case anymore. People have jumped on me because they say the game is for the fans and while it is it has not been an EXHIBITION for quite a while now. A sports exhibition does not count for anything but clearly it does in this case. One reason why the players voted in Manny is because those players feel he is a great hitter and he gives them one of the better chances of winning. If this was a true exhibition with nothing on the line Manny probably would not have been selected by the players. He still won't play because he has stated before he prefers not to play during the break. But clearly some of the players decisions send a clear message. GET RID OF THIS STUPID HOME FIELD CRAP!

Can you make an All Star team from current players drafted by your favorite team? And you have to use the positions they were drafted at. Use this link: http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?franch_ID=ANA&year_ID=active&draft_type=junreg And just change the team listed under "Picks by Franchise/Year (&actives)" Pick the 8 position players, 1 extra player, 4 starts, and 1 reliever. Here are the Indians: C-Ryan Garko, 1B-Sean Casey, 2B-John McDonald, SS-Jim Thome, 3B-Manny Ramierez, OF-Brian Giles, Ryan Church, Ben Francisco, XP-Kevin Kouzmanoff, SP-CC Sabathia, Paul Byrd, Aaron Laffey, Jeremy Sowers, RP-Jensen Lewis. Ken Jr, if you're not going to answer the question then don't say anything. Look at who the Indians have drafted and see if you can come up with somebody better. All right Ken, that's better. I didn't mean "All Star" in the litteral sense. Would it have made more sense if I said "Can you field a team of current players drafted......"
If you were to build an All-Star Lineup who would you use? Only use players of your era of when you grew up watching baseball. So Ruth Cobb and others are not possible unless you're like 80 years old. Use anyone in their prime, 1 player per position, 1 DH, 1 a piece of a SP and CL. Have fun. C: Mike Piazza 1B: Albert Pujols 2B: Roberto Alomar SS: Derek Jeter 3B: Scott Rolen LF: Manny Ramirez CF: Ken Griffey JR. RF: Vladamir Guerrero DH: David Ortiz SP: Randy Johnson CL: Trevor Hoffman

Would either of these baseball/basketball cards be worth anything? ok for baseball i have: Bowmans Best 1998 David Ortiz Topps 1992 Manny Ramirez 97' Fleer Ultra Vladimir Guerrero These are all rookie cards. Why are the Cardinals the best team in Baseball? 1. Albert Pujols= Greatest Hitter in baseball. Not some overrated one dimensional slob like David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez. 2. Pitching staff made up off hidden gems. Todd Wellemeyer (top 5 pitcher in NL), Kyle Lohse, Joel Pineiro, Braden Looper, Adam Wainwright (not a hidden gem, Arguably best Pitcher in NL) 3. Ryan Ludwick. 320avg, 16 HR's, almost 50 ribbies. Hidden Gem. Thanks Indians for letting this guy go! 4. We won a WS in 2006. Hey Cub fans, when did you last win one? Astro fans, the last time you were in a WS, what happened? 5. Young talent from Minors. Joe Mather, Chris Perez, Brian Barton (Rule 5 Draft), Colby Rasmus (future All Star, better than Jay Bruce), Mitchell Boggs. 6. Best Manager and Pitching Coach in baseball. LaRussa and Duncan are the best. No one comes close. 7. We dont spend triple digit in FA to be good. Cubs have to go on a shopping spree in FA to be division winners. Yankees need to buy every player to be decent. Wellemeyer has had bad starts? Who said that is a retard. Wellemeyer has never had a "bad start" this year. They've all been solid to great.
Baseball's Hardcore Fans Explain!? I saw a cartoon on a popular sports website...and I really agreed with it and now I believe it has been removed or hidden. McGwire, Sosa, and Clemens who without steroid accusations maybe 2 out of the 3 of them would be 1st ballot hall of famers right? I mean statistically clemens may be one of the top 5 pitchers EVER....and sosa and mcgwire pulled baseball out of the slump that hockey is going thru right now with record HRs! Did Clemens ever fail any drug test? nope...he was accused of taking steroids by someone YOU would never have heard of unless he wasnt charged with posession or selling. but whatever...the true question is... why is Manny Ramirez enjoying a heroes welcome, and getting votes for the All Star game? I mean are we saying that if players are cool if they get caught by MLB but if criminals or drug addicts accuse former players of using we should shun them? Nick...come'on you arent that stupid right? it is a banned substance since its either a masking substance or a way to level your testerone... I wont even think about visiting your site if you are really that dumb...sorry uterr chaos, man i feel like i am teaching 3 year olds in calculus. manny is likeable? didnt he basically refuse to play for boston and fake injuries? the went to LA and damn near avg .400? alright i really like a millionaire that just wants more money and basically forces a trade to get MORE money! Finally to all you Manny fans or defenders...I understand he wasn't busted for a PED...but do you really think he was taking a womens fertility drug because he wanted to be pregnant?
What do you think about Manny's 50 game suspension? It kinda sux for me. Im from Houston, long time 'Stros fan. Long time baseball fan. Didnt care about the strike in 94 where Bagwell would have got the MVP (maaaybe matt williams...) Didnt care about McGwire and andro. Laughed my ars off at Sammy's superball filled bat...How embarrassing lol... Palmeiro, A fraud Roidriguez, didnt really care man. Not enough to turn away from the game anyway. Wierd, I don't have any affiliation with the Red Sox, 'cept hatin the yankees maybe (note Sox 5-0 vs yanks this yr)... havent loved manny my who life or anything. I do like the reactions when i say Manny is top 3 righty's of all time and my friends are like no waaay. Yes way. Why do i hate this weeks news so much then?? For some reason i do. It might be that i hate ESPN's 24 hr repetative coverage of it. I don't know. I was really happy for Dodgers. Happy for Torre. Maybe it's the new 50 game suspension. I was ok with it all, but now u take a star out of the game for a third of the season and it sucks. How can the draftees, HS players, ect... not do roids when others are, and take their contracts? Its a no win. I hate it. PS... Hate Selena Roberts I'm not defending Manny. Im glad players who break the rules get punished. Like i said no win. I wish all players would follow rules, or don't tell me when they don't. Don't ram it down our throats when a player does somethin wrong. How bout showing the great things that come from doing it right? Oh, that doesnt get ratings...... And where do ratings come from? YOU. YOU give the crap on ESPN ratings. Which shows what interests you guys. Too many unemployed losers i guess to get this to change.

Baggy pants from the earlier days with long socks and stirrups. Helmets: 1.) Great gazoo helmets that were used in last year's All-star game like David Wright wears. 2.) For the jerseys from the 1900's to 1930's, I also should've said they have a collar around the neck. :-)
all-overrated team: can we start giving credit to established superstars? there are only a few guys who produce year in year out or ones with legit track record. pitchers: johan santana, roy oswalt, roy halladay, jake peavy, brandon webb, rich harden (if not for injuries, he is 1 of the best pitchers in baseball), chad billingsley (career ERA 3.3..improve every year) hitters: albert pujols, a-rod, david wright, vladimir guerrero, manny ramirez, alfonso soriano, chase utley, hanley ramirez, miguel cabrera, magglio ordonez, ryan howard (even in a down year, he was a mvp candidate), lance berkman, ichiro james shields: some columnists call him a cy young candidate. i almost choked out laughing. nothing in his track record suggests he can even be a #1 starter. sure, he's durable, but that's about it. carl crawford/bj upton: everyone knows they have speed since he became a regular in 2003, but that's about it. i thought its a joke when someone mentioned crawford as a dark horse mvp candidate. he doesn't walk, has limited power. seems to have reach his ceiling and might even be regressing. same with upton. the 07 power output was clearly an aberration. yovani gallardo: went 9-5 with 3.67 ERA in 07 as a rookie then barely pitched last season. why is he in the cy young discussion? zach duke had a better rookie half-season than he did. grady sizemore: he's the centerfield version of brandon phillips. he hit homers and he runs. no plate discipline. no 100 rbis season. never hit above .300. decent player but he's no mvp mark texeira: first baseman with his power is not exactly rare. (pujols, berkman, cabrera, howard, delgado, pena, adrian gonzalez, fielder, dunn, giambi all have the same if not more power. pujols, berkman, cabrera, howard, gonzalez are probably better overall in his position) he had one great season (in 2005) his OPS that year is worse than albert pujols' worst season. kevin youkilis/duston pedroia: red sox infield duel were both mvp candidates last year. they can hit for averages, but last year's power outbreaks seem to be aberrations for both. mvp candidates? give me a break evan longoria: sure he plays better defense than ryan braun. but braun has more power, more plate discipline, and more power than this guy. why is he getting all the hype? no way he wins mvp this year. sure he has potential, but he's only a borderline all-star this year due to a-rod's lost time joey votto: someone mentioned him as a dark-horse mvp. are you kidding me? he's a solid first baseman but is really nothing special chris davis: i didn't even know who this guy is then some sportswriter predicted he will lead the league in homer this year. fat chance. even andruw jones is more likely than him. josh hamilton/matt holliday: sure he has a great story. but hamilton had the privilege of hitting in 2 of the most hitter-friendly parks in cincinnati and arlington. his OPS .901 isn't elite even in such a hitter friendly environment. his road OPS is .779 and he batted .263. holliday is getting exposed now he is no longer in coors jon lester: another inspiring story...beating cancer. has 1 good, not great season. might come back to earth a bit this year. felix hernandez: been hyped as the "lebron james" of baseball since his debut in 2005. he didn't do anything spectacular, never striking out more than 1 batter per inning. 40-36 with a 3.80 ERA. good starter, yes. perennial cy young caliber? no kevin slowey: this control artist barely walks but has mediocre stuff. mentioning him as a cy young candidate is ludicrous edinson volquez: it's easy to jump on the edinson bandwagon, but last year looks like an aberration. he never solved his control problem. jay bruce: someone predicted him as the homer leader, which is absolutely ridiculous. i would be surprised if he ever eclipse 35. johnny cueto: a 4.85 career ERA is seen as cy young worthy rickie weeks: at this stage of his career, he is who he is ervin santana: again, 1 decent season outshadowed a career of mediocrity nick markakis: a nice player but not a superstar. gets on base but not enough power justin upton/delmon young/alex gordon: they are draft busts, not potential superstars matt garza: another solid pitcher who doesn't belong in the cy young discussion. cliff lee: he's good but not great. last year was an aberration cc sabathia: a workhorse who didn't become great until the last 2 years. whether he will keep it up or revert to see his pre-2006 form is up to debate aj burnett: always has electrifying stuff, but health issues and a propensity to give up big hits never translated his strikeout numbers to low ERAs john lackey: save for 1 good season, has been serviceable not great. inning eater reputation is also dying due to recent bouts with health josh beckett: he follows one mediocre season with one great season then another mediocre ones. he will never be a dominant pitcher in the AL every year. jose reyes: lack of power, lack of plate discipline carlos beltran: carlos beltran: in terms of hitting. he's barely better than bobby abreu justin morneau: low career OBP and OPS. is not really a slugger relative to his position (1B) jimmy rollins; mvp season was a fluke

What's up with all of these bitter Red Sox fans and Mets haters? First, to those Red Sox fans who keep whining. It is true, you guys trash on every player that leaves your team. You did it with Nomar Garciaparra, Johnny Damon, Manny Ramirez, and now Jason Bay. Not even satisfied with the fact you have one of best pitchers in the league, John Lackey. I'm hearing things like "Jason Bay sucks" and "Jason Bay plays terrible defense, and strikes out a lot" were you saying that when he put those 36 HR's, with 119 RBI, single handedly carry the Red Sox offense, easily the MVP of the team. Peter Gammons who is a Red Sox fan himself, said Jason Bay "Would rather play in Beirut, than go to the Mets" guess Beirut is located somewhere in Queens. To the Mets haters, why? Sure, the Mets have been underachievers, but to say "The Mets aren't going anywhere" is ridiculous. I recall before the season started Sports Illustrated picked us to win the World Series. We have all stars in most of our positions, we have one the best starting and closing pitchers in baseball, so why so much hate? All were trying to do is improve our ball club. We needed a LF with pop, and Omar addressed that need. We were dead last in homers hit last season, so it was imperative that we got someone. Still more work to be done, but things are looking better, can't deny that. What?, is it true that you're a Yankee fan? Also, how many clubs have a solid rotation 1-5, the Phillies went the World Series with Pedro Martinez, so my point exactly. True, but that Yankee team had it what i took to win a championship, and they honestly should have won that series.
Basketball fans: Do you enjoy hypocrisy? If you're star player is accused of something (steroids, rape, etc) and you use the "innocent until proven guilty," line how can you seriously bitch about another team's player when they're accused of something. I just find it extremely hard to believe that anyone can truly become convict someone in their own mind when they have already dismissed something similar for their own player. This goes for baseball with Manny, A-Rod, and Barry and their steroid scandals to basketball with Kobe's "rape" and LeBron's "confiscation." Fans of the other team are all always so fast to convict the other player even after so furiously defending their own. It's OK to rib people about things like this and make jokes, but to straight up say one guy did it and your guy didn't, that just doesn't make sense sports fan or not. As a Giants fan who has suffered countless people hating Barry Bonds for something he hasn't been convicted of, I still kind find a way to hate Manny Ramirez for being anything more than a dodger. Also, as a Laker-hating Warrior fan, I can't find a way to hate Kobe for anything more than being a Laker. The question is: Do sports fans get like this because of passion for they're team or is it because they just truly believe they're always right? JADE: Are you telling me that a lot of fans don't treat it in the same way? I can guarantee you that a lot of Kobe fans couldn't give a rats *** about his well being. They just want to jump up and defend their team because if they don't it becomes true. I haven't really been looking around what happened in the video, and I don't know if they are "witnesses" (the irony) to lebron asking for the confiscation. all i know is that as soon as it came out before witnesses/evidence (just like in the kobe case) everyone was extremely quick to blame lebron and not even think it could have been nike's overreaction.
Fight Fans:Did Arum Select A Bad Date To Hold The Fight? Kentucky Derby- Even though horse racing is long gone from its days of being a charter member of America's big 3 sports, along with Baseball & Boxing, the Derby is still a major event and will have tracks filled from Santa Anita to Scarborough Downs with people getting liquored up and spending a weeks worth of pay 2 minutes at a time. Along with being one of the biggest gambling days, Churchil downs the "event" is where people go to be seen. Head to Head against NBA Playoffs- Normally the premier game would get a much earlier start on Sat. rather than the 8:15 est tip tonight, but even NBA/tv. execs have chosen not to waste their big guns during the Derby broadcast. Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, KG, Pierce, Allen & Shaq are all individually far bigger stars in this country than Manny & Mosely combined playing a game that can easily run til 11:15 est. Questions Is this a bad date as compared to next week (payday weekend) or is this a great day to reach casual fans? Can Boxing PPV compete against other major events with just its core fans supporting it? @bianca/zoroaster- Grow up kid and answer the question at hand instead of letting your mind find pleasure in silly machinations. @Odlanyer- I would be surprised if it didn’t hit a million buys, but considering the fight was going to receive broadcast network plugs via fight camp wouldn’t you want to hold it on a different weekend? There was an opportunity to not only increase his fan base in the U.S., but also grow the sport if it’s held next week. As for local venue being sold out, who would you rather have the first 10-12 rows filled with trendsetters or a few B list stars spread out here and there? If you want to create a buzz about the night well afterwards you want Aaron Rodgers, Jerry Jones, top selling recording artists in all genres, A list movie stars and the Paris Hilton types all in attendance. By having the fight this weekend you pretty much kill any shot of that happening. It’s like a Lakers home game vs. a Memphis Grizzlies home game in the playoffs. Both arenas are sol
Don't you wish these two guys just get traded already? Brett Favre, Brett Favre, Brett Favre! Shutup ESPN. That's all I hear about is him. Just trade the guy to the Jets. That way you both win. Green Bay doesn't have to be scared, and Brett Farve can start. No offense Jet's fans your team sucks and with Farve your still only winning tops 9 games. Manny Ramirez, Manny Ramirez, Manny being Manny! Shutup ESPN. Grow Up, Manny! You left a team in Cleveland that gave you a great start, got a chance to win two World Championships in Boston, & maybe a 3rd in 2008, although you seem ready to make sure that doesn't happen, if you have any say. Boston should send you to the worst team in baseball just to prove you're not bigger than the game. I get the feeling you don't know that. Both you and Farve are obsessed with your idea that everyone loves you. The thing is...everyone is tired of you old geezers. I hear you both will star in a movie next year called No Country for Farve and ManRam The Rating is going to be "A" for Annoying.
Is Justin Upton the "real deal"? I read this article a while ago on Justin Upton. Now, I don't get to watch a lot of the Diamondbacks unless if they are playing on ESPN, FOX, or against the Cubs, because I live in Chicago and I am a White Sox fan and that's the only way i watch a lot of NL action. Here's something that really stood out to me in this article: (as seen here: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ti-upton042508&prov=yhoo&type=lgns) "Not 24 hours earlier, I’d stood at Hudson’s locker and asked him what Upton would become, asked him what we were looking at here. He’d thought about it for a full 20 seconds. “Sheffield.” His answer had sent me looking for other opinions. A National League scout: “Manny.” Another NL talent evaluator: “A right-handed-hitting Ken Griffey Jr.” That’s almost 1,600 home runs. Thirty-three All-Star games. Three Hall-of-Fame speeches." is he for real? I mean I watch Baseball Tonight, so I watch see some of him and some highlight plays of his, but I mean Sheffield? Griffey Jr.? Manny? I don’t know what to think about that; just even thinking about those names and numbers put together is unbelievable . What is your take on him?
Will Edgar Martinez make the Hall of Fame in 2011? If not, how many years do you think he will have to wait? or do you think he'll never make it in? His stats speak for themselves. And, who cares if he was a DH. The DH is a position too. Since 1973. Relief pitchers are making it in, and for years people didn't think the reliever is a position Hall worthy. If relivers make it in, then so should DH's. I think Edgar will make it in, but probably not for another 4 or 5 years, what do you think? Here are some of his stats. Designated hitter / Third baseman Born: January 2, 1963 (1963-01-02) (age 47) New York, New York Batted: Right Threw: Right MLB debut September 12, 1987 for the Seattle Mariners Last MLB appearance October 3, 2004 for the Seattle Mariners Career statistics Batting average .312 Home runs 309 Hits 2,247 Runs batted in 1,261 Teams Seattle Mariners (1987–2004) Career highlights and awards 7× All-Star selection (1992, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2003) 5× Silver Slugger Award winner (1992, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003) 2004 Roberto Clemente Award Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame inductee (2007 Martínez, Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, Stan Musial, Rogers Hornsby, Lou Gehrig, Manny Ramirez, and Todd Helton are the only players in history with 300 home runs, 500 doubles, a career batting average higher than .300, a career on-base percentage higher than .400 and a career slugging percentage higher than .500. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Mart%C3%ADnez http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/martied01.shtml
I Do Not Get It - Angels? I am no Angel fan nor am I a Red Sox fan. I am a Met fan, but I respect both teams the Red Sox and Angels. I just thought w/ al the rotation moves the Angels made it was their year. No disrespect to Boston they won this game, but losing Manny is big. Luckily, they got Bay he has always been this good its just he was a Pirate. Anyways, what I do not get is you have the best pitching staff in baseball a closer on par w/ Papelbon in K.Rod. the best defensive outfield w/ gold glover Anderson, the best outfielder in Torri Hunter, and one of the strongest arms in the league in Vlady. They have the best fielding infield as well Napoli is a good catcher and Aybar has an arm. Kendrick is alright and Teixera is a good 1B Man. They have very good hitting Vlady Rivera Teixera Hunter Anderson I mean why get an All-star lineup if it pays no dividence. Is it dumb to invest in a team, like that when you can beat a team like this on any given series this team in the Angels were for real and won 100 games for christ sake. I dont know someone clue me in?
Is it true that people who usually fail at everything else in life become boxers? If you want to become an athlete you can be a golf player , soccer player , Rugby or football player , tennis player , swimmer , cyclist , hockey player ,baseball or basketball player ,a driver in auto or motor sports, i think point is made.Forbes has a list with the 50 highest paid athletes in the world and most of them are soccer players , golf players , drivers from auto & motor sports ,tennis players and NBA stars. The only boxer who made it in the list was Manny Pacquiao,so it makes me wonder who wants to get beat and risks his health and life for a living? All these people who fail to become something important in life, like a doctor or a lawyer, businessman , politician , actor , singer , director , or even an athlete in a mainstream or soft sport, become boxers don't they? If not then why Vitali Klitchenko dropped boxing for politics and when he failed in politics he came back in boxing?Floyd tried to make into the showbiz and failed as well i heard that is why he is back too,it must be true right?Manny doesn't want to drop boxing for Politics too? dannymancan25, MMA fighters are no different, wrestlers too, kick boxers ,all of them, these people get ruined for a living,it's pointless!
Manny Ramirez’s the biggest star in baseball? i recently read a article written by a ya hoof reporter jeff passan. this is the same reporter that said the greatest fans in baseball (st.louis cardinal fans). were obnoxious,i think he may be the only one in the world that feels that way.lol. any way he said ramirez is the biggest star in baseball.? i for one feel that's way off. albert pujols would be on top of the list. anyone else have a player they think should be on the list? just a fun question. no name calling. thanks~~~DAWG
Is there a sports star less intelligent than Manny Ramirez? I have no connection to Manny, he's never played against my team or for my team. And I'm not commenting on his ability to play the game. I think he is quite the player. I think he's one of the few players in baseball who "earns" every penny as far as consistency and performance in the clutch. BUT I hear, "that's just Manny being Manny." often. I think to myself, that's someone with a IQ of 75 acting in a national spotlight. Has anyone ever met him to confirm that he isn't just a "big kid" but in fact a "dumb person". Are there any other stars that come to mind when talking about lack of brains?
Are star baseball players overpaid? Alex Rodriguez = $27 mil / yr Jason Giambi = $21 mil / yr Derek Jeter = $20 mil / yr Manny Ramirez = $18 mil / yr Todd Helton = $16.6 mil / yr to round off the top 5. Great answers so far...will give you my thoughts on these salaries after I get a few more answers... Ok...first of all to Mark V. where in my question does it say "all"? I specifically targeted 'star' bb players. Everyone seems to agree that baseball is a business and money is the driving force behind the game. With that being said, overpaid yes, for their ability to play the game, overpaid no, for their ability to attract millions of people each year to fill the stands. Read the top five names on the list, they are names we know (household names) So bottom line, it's a business, they pay star players what they pay them to attract buisness and sell as many jerseys and tickets as possible. Do I think A-rod is overpaid, NO he is an awesome player (i'm an ANGELS fan) and brings in the revenue that is needed to cover his salary.... CHIPMAKER....name those underpaid players and their salaries...I'm interested to know. CHIPMAKER...One question..how many Justin Verlander Jerseys have you seen, as a matter of fact, out of all those people, even the one you have not listed, how many have you seen? Back to my point, you have to be a star baseball player to make any real money.
Do you think that star athletes gets paid to much money? the top salary annually for soccer is $ 50 million (David Beckham) for baseketball is $29.5 million (Shaq), for baseball $22.5 (Manny Ramirez), football $15 million (Brian Urlacher) and finally hockey $11 million (Jaromir Jagr) . is this to much?

Sports stars you'd most like to spend a day with? Baseball: Manny, he has such joy at life. Football: Hines Ward. Always ready with a smile. Basketball: Steve Nash. How does a height-challenged white Canadien become the best ball-handler in the NBA? Incredible. You can add other sports, I don't watch them enuf to have favorites.
Manny Ramirez turns down Dodgers second offer, Do you think he will sign with the Giants? I for sure thought he would end up with the Dodgers but know Im not sure because another team like the Giants or Nationals could offer him a multi-year deal or offer him a 1 year deal with incentives that could lead to a 2 year deal. Ramirez has turned down the Dodgers' one-year offer, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports. Hernandez lists the New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals as teams that are monitoring Ramirez' market. The Dodgers could find themselves in a bind if Ramirez receives a multi-year offer from another club. If Ramirez is offered what he considers a fair deal, sources close to him say that he wouldn't grant the Dodgers a chance to match it, forcing the Dodgers to go into Spring Training without their only star attraction and reliable run producer. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-manny-ramirez3-2009feb03,0,3789499.story
Where can I buy drugs to enhance my performance? Manny Ramirez gave me this idea... When do baseball fans and major league baseball learn that too many professional sports stars are like politicians? Greedy? Not focused upon doing their overpaid jobs... I do not need drugs and never have needed drugs. The last night that I slept in a hospital was the night after I was born in that hospital. And you can trust me, I do not need any drug enhancements, I am perfectly healthy.
What do you think of this Baseball team? It is an 8 team league where we keep 3 guys each year. I starred the guys who were my keepers. baseball questions for people 1.bay went 1 for 5, 2 strikeouts 1 rbi in with the basesloaded....1 for 5. 2 strikeouts...still think u would want bay more? before the game bay was hitting about 400 with the new team. manny is hitting 612 2 hrs 4 rbi only got 2 strike outs in 3 games..bay got 2 strikeouts in one game...still think bay is a better chose? dont get me wrong bay is a good hitter, but when postseason around the corner and when every run is needed who would u rather have during a crucial at bat with the baseloaded and game on the line. a prove hitter with 2 rings or someone that helped their former team win nothing. remember in playoffs they dont care about the futur they want to win now. 2. why did pirates get rid of their 2 best hitters..isnt a team supposed to build the team around their star players? 3. since players r so superstitious and manny is on a hot streak..would u want manny to cut his hair if u were torrie? 4. do u think dodgers will and should resign him? 5. why is people hatting on manny so much. its one thing to be mad with he did those things last week, let it go...he wanted out now instead of later so thats why he did it...i just wished he did it sooner. 6. do u think manny is laughing at sox loss and bays performance?
which baseball team wins AL or NL? here is AL P:Josh Beckett 1B:Jason Giambi 2B:Dustin Pedroa 3B:A-Rod SS:Julio Lugo CF:Troii Hunter LF:Manny Ramierez RF: Jacoby Ellisbury CP:Fransico Rodreziguz Here is the NL SP:Jake Peavy 1B:Prince Fielder 2B:Jeff Kent 3B:Chipper Jones SS:Jose Reyes RF:Rick Anikel LF:Ryan Braun CF:Ken Griffy Jr. CP:Trevor Hoffman it would be a best of seven series who would win and why i think the AL but the star player would be Griffy because he is a great ball player and inspires lots of people

Would you consider Kevin Youkilis underrated? I know that "underrated" and "overrated" are used kind of freely in the baseball world...but do you think that he's underrated? He's on a team with guys like David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez who are undoubtedly the "stars" of the team...but it seems to me like he's been getting more attention lately. Just wondering what everyone else thinks. :)
A Couple Questions about the Home Run Derby (Read On)? Well the NL's participants in this year's home run derby look good (Pujols, Howard, Fielder, Adrian Gonzalez) the AL's looks pretty weak (Mauer, Brandon Inge and Nelson Cruz) Mark Teixeria, Justin Morneau, Kevin Youkilis, Jason Bay, Josh Hamilton, Torii Hunter, Curtis Granderson, Ichiro, Victor Martinez and Evan Longoria have all turned down invitations, My questions 1. What is your ideal home run derby field using the same rules (4 AL and 4 NL) for teams this year 2. What would be your ideal field, all time 3. Should Major league baseball allow players who aren't in the all star game to participate. This could allow guys like Manny and A-Rod in 4. On that thought, how about Ken Griffey Jr. Yes he's old and not the player he once was but what if we got one more derby, "The Kid" still wearing his cap backwards taking his last shot at winning. Would anyone be against this 5. How many home runs would Josh Hamilton had hit if he had continued and hadn't stopped at 32 w/6 outs left in Round 2 6. What player on your team would you most want to see in the Derby this year 7. Who will get the last spot in the Derby this year? 8. What are your predictions for this year's home run derby (Round by round w/your guessed player inserted) My answers: 1. AL: Josh Hamilton, Mark Teixeria, Kevin Youkilis, Miguel Cabrera NL: Albert Pujols, Adrian Gonzalez, Manny Ramirez, Ryan Howard 2. Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Reggie Jackson, Duke Snider, Hank Aaron, Roger Maris 3. Yes 4. Put Griffey in 5. I'll say 6more 6.Youkils or Bay 7. Adam Jones 8. Advancing: Pujols, Inge, Howard, Gonzalez Pujols over Inge Gonzalez over Howard Adrian Gonzalez wins For #2, when I said field, I meant field of players How'd I forget The Kid (Griffey) for #2
anyone dodger or boston fans i heard from espn that commisioner office is investigatig manny that his agent called bosoton that if they dont drop his option manny wont play hard for the rest of the season. what do u think about this? i personally think they r wasting their time... manny was batting over .300 befor the trade. it seems now he's hot they dont like their superstars bigger then the game..which manny is right now hitting 4 hr in 6 games. to me the commish srewed up the steroids thing last yr. now he has to screw up another stars life. although he cant do anything about it, becasue manny isnt the only superstar not to play hard. he isnt the only star not to play hard before leaving a team then blow up on another team...if he has to wast time and money on this then he has to investigate every player that didnt play hard befor leaving a team. i think we need a new baseball commish because he's turning into a big joke. regaurdless if its true or not.. the only reason this is going on is hes doing well in la. what do they expect him to suck. if the notice he hits hr off the less talented pitchers.. did he hit hr off webb no he didnt. they have to invetigate andy laroach, he's doing good in pit. way better then he played in la..they better invetigate him too. in fact all the players invovled in the trade, because they all are doing better with their new teams. again the commish is losing it..he needs to be replaced.
who would win in a fight? dalia lama vs the pop boom boom vs manny barack obama vs martin luther king japan godzilla vs usa godzilla-doesnt matter what year george lopez vs carlos mancia eric estrada vs mr t bsg ship vs empire ship from star wars(the one with the 2 big baseball size rader) et ufo vs the ufo on close encounters of the third kind
What Rookie cards???? I have a hobby for collecting baseball cards, and especially rookie cards. I have a pretty small (it depends) collection of cards of about 750. Some rookie cards that I do have are... - Josh Hamilton Topps '52 Rookie Card Signed - Kevin Kouzmanoff Upper Deck Rookie Card "Future Stars" Signed - Johan Santana Fleer Tradition almost Mint - Ken Griffey Jr. Topps Rookie Card - Jake Peavy Topps "50 years" Signed Rookie Card - Jake Peavy Donruss 2003 Rated Rookie Signed Rookie Card - Josh Beckett Fleer Tradition Rookie Card - Julio Franco Donruss '83 Rookie Card - Todd Helton Pinnacle Inside Rookie Card - Roger Clemens Topps Rookie Card - Manny Ramirez Upper Deck Top Prospect 92 Rookie Card - Ryan Braun Bowman Rookie Card And those are like my most prized card. I guess my question is what are some cards that I should add to my collection? Like what rookie cards are must-buys? I always am adding more..I'm open to any ideas. Also, I would like to buy Tim Hudson rookie card, Thome Rookie Card, Randy Johnson Rookie Card, and I'm going to a signing at my local mall to get an in-person signed Mike Schmidt ball. Then THAT will be my most prized possession. Can't Wait!
