Why is the United States always guaranteed a spot in the final of the Little League World Series? The winner of the US side of the tournament always faces the winner of the International side of the tournament. Consequently the US is always guaranteed a spot in the final. Whereas every other country competes against each other to obtain the other spot. To be fair - the US should crown a champion just like every other country and play in the tournament against every other country to determine the Little League World Series Champion.
Does anyone remember the 1992 Little League World Series scandal? Does anyone remember the 1992 Little League World Series scandal? I heard that the Philippines won the title by beating the US in the final game. However, it was later found out that team Philippines cheated and used players that were over the age limit to compete (ages 7-12). Apparently the Philippines used players who were up to 15 years old. What was the general feeling in the Philippines? I would think that they were happy when they won, however, when the scandal broke was there a sense of embarassment?
Is the Little League World Series a bit lopsided? I just found out that in the Little League World Series, there are a total of 16 teams. Of the 16 teams, 8 are from the US, while the remaining 8 are from other countries around the world. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me like we stacked it in our favor. I mean, purely from a numbers stand point, we have a 50/50 chance of winning the title. That just doesn't seem fair to me.
Are the espn speed guns juiced for the little league world series? I've been watching the little league world series and i have seen some little scrawny kids pitching and the speed said 70 mph, is this right or do they add a couple mphs on to the speed. when i was 12 i played little league and we made it to sectionals. some of the best pitchers along the way were throwing around 65 mph and they were bigger then normal i could see them adding speed just to make it more interesting because people enjoy watching a kid throw 80 mph on tv.
Do any of you watch the Little League World Series on ESPN? Or do you think it's a big waste of time like me? Maybe it's just me, but I don't know why ESPN shows so much Little League World Series (LLWS). I think it's boring to watch a ton of games being played by 11 year olds. If I wanted to go watch kids play baseball, I would just go to any park on the weekend and watch a little league game. I realize that these are all-star teams or in some cases, the country's best little leaguers, but at the end of the day, they are still just kids. I'm not trying to knock the kids because I'm sure they're really talented, but so are the women in the WNBA, but that doesn't mean it's fun to watch. I don't understand why they don't just show an MLB day game instead. Especially considering that the MLB season is beginning to heat up around this time of year with a lot of close divisional races. I'm just curious, do you watch the LLWS on ESPN? If so, why do you watch it? Do you prefer ESPN show these games instead of other sports being played by adults? Some of you guys made a very good point by saying that kids like watching other kids play ball. I suppose if I were 11 years old, I would have more interest in watching. As for those who suggested I just turn the channel... Well, that's exactly what I do, but that's besides the point. I remember when I was a kid, they would show the championship LLWS game between the top US team and another country's top team. Now days, ESPN shows nonstop LLWS for a couple of weeks or longer. I don't have a problem with them showing the final game, but do we have to have LLWS marathon everyday on ESPN?
How do you get into the Little League World Series? Like do you have to play for the school or travel league? I played in the city league and it was called the southwood league (in ohio) and we won our division and that was it. How do i play for Little League?
How do the Little League World Series teams pick their players? The American teams all have a city and a state...is it only players from that city? Or is it players on a team who play in a league in that city? Or all over the state? I'm just curious how they pick them. If it's just the actual everyday little league teams, it's pretty impressive that the US can compete internationally...it would mean they're not even close to having the best of the nation on one team.
is anyone following the the little league world series this year? i admit i had never watched it but our hometown team from lubbock, tx is representing the SouthWest, so this year, i am watching and cheering. Go Lubbock!! never knew little league was cool, lol and if you are watching , who are you rootin' for? ok, i cant choose, i will leave it up to you, thanks for all the responses. i will sure be watching, if it ever stops raining lol, GO LUBBOCK!!
Would the Little League World Series have been different with Wooden Bats? Most definitely yes. Let's look at the last hit. Hit that with a wood bat, my feeling is, its a fly out to the warning track. Brian: I disagree totally. He was late on the swing. Right hander to right field? Sorry. The aluminum aided it. If it had been pulled and he'd have gotten all of it, I'd agree. it looked like an "excuse me" Swing. Nacnud: Not saying it was better, I'm saying that is wouldn't have gone out. All LL baseball is is swinging for the fences. Goodness, whatever happened to BILLY BALL. moving runners, bunts, all that? Nacnud: Not saying it was better, I'm saying that is wouldn't have gone out. All LL baseball is is swinging for the fences. Goodness, whatever happened to BILLY BALL. moving runners, bunts, all that?
Which states have never had a team make it to the little league world series? One of the announcers during the broadcast of the little league world series made the statement that 8 states have never had a team make it to the little league world series, and then only mentioned Wisconsin as one of the states (never the rest) and it piqued my curiosity. I haven't found anything with a quick check of the net.
Why isn't the Little League World Series played before school starts back? I know it's a big accomplishment but it seems to me it would make more sense if the kids didn't have to miss so much school to do it. I know everyone hasn't started back yet but a lot of places have. School has been going nearly 3 weeks here. A team that made the LLWS from here (though we don't have actual Little League teams here) would miss upwards of a month of school. I know other states have been going almost as long too.
What is with the umpires at the little league world series? Did you see the home plate umpires strikezone on Saturday during the semifinals? For God's sake he was calling strikes a good 18" to 24" off the outside of the plate!!! I don't care if he called it both ways or not he ruined the game! Obviously he was paid by the game and not by the hour! Repeatedly ABC sports showed the pitches he was calling strikes waaay outside. . . sometimes 2 feet or more!! This guy need to be fired and get off his high horse. These umpires now know they are on TV and seem to feel they need to be the centerpoint of the game! There is no excuse for this crazy strike zone! It made for a boring game as the players simply stood there and struck out or whiffed as they couldn't reach these so called strikes that were two feet outside.
What ever happened to the Little League World Series? They had it last year, but not this year. So is it an occasional thing? I noticed they had it last year, and the year before, bot not this year, deos anyone know why? omg, Murrayhill owned last year, i know most of the guys on the team! I didn't go to school with them cuz most of them live in Aloha, and I live in Beaverton, but my dad's friends with alot their dads so yeah. Well enough about me, like anyone would even really care, but yeah so what's up with The Little League not airing? :D
Who else wishes they could play in the Little League World Series? Im 16 and been watching the llws. I feel so jealous that i never made it there. Looking at the kids having a blast and playing at those awesome stadiums just makes me sad that I will never get to experience that. I would do just about anything to go play there. Who else wishes that they could of played at Williamsport in the LLWS?
