Chipper Jones Batting Average Knowledge Base

Is Chipper Jones better than Albert Pujols this year? Chipper Jones is batting .418 with 14 home runs. Albert Pujols has hit 15 homers and is batting .364. Chipper is second in the Majors in slugging percentage and first in batting average.Who is better this year so far?
Chipper Jones? Do you think Chipper Jones can get back to a .400 batting average. He is batting .393 at the moment.
Chipper Jones, better hitter now or when he was younger? Now that Chipper Jones is older his batting average as shot up a lot. He was one hit away from a batting title last year. Is he a better hitter now, or when he was younger and hit more homeruns?
Is Chipper Jones a coward for not playing the entire last week of season? ok he missed almost 40 games this year maybe he was injured but what really makes him a coward is that he pinch hit the last 6 games of the year to obviously protect his batting average from going down, was Chipper scared to start because Albert Pujols was gonna win the batting title?
Who else is a huge Chipper Jones fan like me? This guy wow...he's just wow...a career like his it just astounds me. His batting average amazing. his third basemen skills beyond amazing! I still can't get over the two homeruns he got a few weeks ago when he played the Dodgers (the first game Andruw Jones came to Atlanta as a visitor) is there any other Chipper fans out there!?
Does any body else think that larry wayne (chipper) jones jr. deserves 2 be in the hall of fame? He was the 1999 MVP and has the best batting average in the MLB this year and @ his age thats amazing!
Chipper Jones Of the Atlanta Braves? Does any baseball fans or analyst think that chipper jones can be the first 400 hitter this season? He is doing good so far and looks like he is not ready to stop. Leads the league in batting average and hits. Anyone here thinks he can actually do it?
Chipper Jones or Carlos Delgado? I have Chipper now but Delgado is available. I'm in a four team league with lots of players on my team. I am thinking about dropping Chipper for Delgado. I know I will lose batting average and gain power. I'm just not sure who I would rather have. Chipper is already hurt.
Will Chipper Jones bat .400 this year? I have been very surprised at his play this year, all his stats are phenomenal, not just his BA. It's been said that to hit .400 you have to walk a lot (this coming directly from Tony Gwynn), and his walk total is I'd say average at this point, 19 BB's to 13 SO's, pretty good. But I think he'll need to increase this pace for .400 to be a reality. Nevertheless, it's great to see him having such a great year. he'a a "puke"? what brings you to that conclusion? maybe you should learn proper English?
who would u rather have on ur team chipper jones, david wright,or a-rod? i know a lot of people would normally say a rod but hes in a huge slump and im a mets fan and david wright has a .346 batting average
In MLB, do post-season stats count for batting titles? As a Braves fan, I'm rooting for Chipper Jones to win the NL batting title (highest batting average). If players such as Chase Utley & Matt Holliday get hits in the playoffs (if the Phillies or Rockies make the play-offs), will they count towards the National League batting title race? Thanks.
Is Chipper Jones a Hall of Famer? Chipper is my favorite all time player. I've been his fan for 14 years now. He's the all time leader in HRs in the Atlanta Braves organization, not the all time Braves however. He's one of the best switch hitters of all time, 3rd in all time HRs for switch hitters. He has a career .310 batting average, over 400 HRs, over .400 on base percentage, a career fielding percentage of .960, a six time all star, he had 8 straight 100+ RBI seasons, 14 straight 20+ home run seasons (streak still current), and still has one of the sweetest swings in the game. He has been a part of a World Series championship team, 1995, a part of 11 straight division titles (1995-2005), 3 World Series appearances, and the 1999 National League MVP. And also, consider where he has played for the last 12 years, Turner Field. Anyone who knows Turner Field knows it is a pitcher's ballpark. What he has done considering this is nothing short of incredible. He's a surefire HOF in my book.
Will the one game playoff between the Rockies and Padres effect the NL Batting Title? Holliday's average is .340 and Chipper Jones' is .339. What happens if Holliday goes 0-5 and falls into a tie with or below Chipper? I read that the stats for the playoff game count towards regular season stats. It would be interesting to see the Holliday lose a batting title in a playoff game.
Chipper Jones.. hall of famer or not? Reasons he should make it (in my opinion)- He has been the face of the Braves' franchise since 95 and made 11 playoff appearances with them has won a world series a 6 time all-star has won an mvp 2 time silver slugger single season HR record for an NL switch hitter 3rd all time on switch hitter HR list has been the epitome of a team player (changing positions to make room for another player, taking pay cuts to allow the Braves to pursue top free agents) has won a batting title He is the only switch hitter in Major League Baseball history to have a .300+ career batting average and 400 home runs Has been one of the most feared hitters in baseball for over a decade due being one of the game's best all-around hitters, being clutch, and being able to switch hit, which he does as good or better than anyone in history besides Mickey Mantle. i think he should be a first ballot hall of famer for sure if he continues to play and finishes with a .300+ avg and at least comes close to 500 HR
MVP of National League and American League? Who do you think will win the MVP of the National League and the American League this year? I personally think that Chipper Jones will win it if he keeps playing like hes playing right now. He should have around 30 homeruns, 110 RBI's and his batting average is unbelievable. In the American League I think its gona be Miguel Cabrera. I know hes been slow to start but now that the teams doing better I think that he will shine in the American League. Who do you think will win it?
Algebra problem with fractions? As of July 19, 2008 Chipper Jones has been at bat 303 times and has hit the ball 113 times. That makes his batting average 0.373. He really wants to raise his average to around 0.445. How many consecutive hits must he make in order to reach his desired batting average by next season. Use the model below to help you figure this out. Round your answer to the nearest whole number. (hint: the same variable, x should represent Future Times at Bat and Future Hits.) Desired Average = Past Hits + Future Hits/Past Bats + Future Bats No I really tried. And got completely stuck. Even if you just try a little bit, I'll take any piece of help, so please I really need to do this
Say if Chipper Jones wasnt hurt the last couple of years, would he be aprroaching 500 right now? Before his injuries occurred he was averaging a homerun per 18 at bats. Since his injury he is averaging a homerun per 16 at bats. Do you think if he would have been healthy and played lets say 140-150 games a year in everyone one of his years, would he be approaching 500 or maybe over it? Actually it does make since. Chipper Jones always comes back from injuries super strong. Ex. This year when he missed about 5 games he came back to play Arizona and hit a 440 foot homerun his first game back.
When Jeter Plays Well..Why It's Not Mentioned Here? I notice Jeter is getting key hits and raised his batting average. But that's not mentioned here? BQ...I just answered a question on Chipper Jones..he is a guy who plays well below the level of his salary, but that is never mentioned here...but Jeter has many detractors...why?
baseball mvp??? i know it's early but you gotta say that chipper jones has a chance to win nl mvp...hes first in the national league in road batting average, second in on base percentage, and first in average, second in ops, and first in slugging.hes batting 374, 17 homers 51 rbi (not too many), has scored 58 runs and has 103 hits. he has only struck out 46 times!!!
Hall of Fame?? Do you think Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves is a HOF?? He has been an MVP, World Series champion,Gold Glover and a career batting average over 300. Over the last 10 years he has definetly been when healthy a top 5 3rd basemen. Is that good enough to get him in???
Should I trade Matt Holliday for Adam Dunn, Carlos Lee, and Aaron Harang? My team: C - Ryan Doumit/ Jorge Posada 1B - Ryan Howard 2B - Rickie Weeks/ Yunel Escobar 3B - Chipper Jones SS - Jeff Keppinger/ J.J. Hardy OF - Matt Holliday, Ordonez, Andruw Jones Pitchers SP - Matsuzaka, Sabathia, Carmona, Smoltz RP - Isringhausen, Valverde, Percival, Tony Pena, Marmol, Mark Lowe (gonna drop for trade) Currently playing in 10 team w/ R, H, 2b, 3b, HR, RBI, SB, K, Avg. for batting categories. I believe Carlos Lee is a poor man's Holliday. Adam Dunn will get me HR and RBI's and Runs, however his high strikeouts and low batting average are of concern. My pitching would be bolstered by Harang's high K's and gradually lower ERA. Possible 15 wins. Is this a good trade? or should I stick with Holliday's monster numbers? He's starting to heat up too! Also, I am lacking speed and have Corey Patterson and Carlos Gomes on FA. Should I keep Holliday and try to add some speed?
Best 3rd Basemen of this Era? I have seen multiple questions and answers that regard A Rod as this eras best 3rd Basemen and I wanted to see if anyone would agree that Chipper Jones is in fact the best 3 bagger of this era. A Rod was primarily a shortstop and Chipper's numbers make him one of the best switch hitters ever and are Hall of Fame worthy. .310 Batting Average 2300 Hits 417 Hrs 1415 RBIs I'm not contending that Chipper's numbers are better than A Rods but I don't consider A Rod a third basemen when he played almost 2/3 of his career at Shortstop
Trade Offers for Jimmy Rollins.? I have received 3 different trade offers for Jimmy Rollins…Which one sounds best? So far this season, I’ve been most successful at ERA, WHIP, K/BB and batting average. I’ve been fairly successful at Wins and Saves (I just picked up Cordero and Santana, so I think I fixed both of those categories. Next is RBI’s. Then Runs and homer. I’ve been losing pretty well every week in Stolen bases, even though my team looks like it is built for Steals. Trade 1: I give up Jimmy Rollins and Matt Holiday for Ryan Zimmerman and Alexei Ramirez. I rejected this one, but thought maybe I could salvage it without giving up Holliday in the deal. I’m giving up way too much for those two players. Trade 2: I give up Rollins for Brandon Webb and Mike Lowell. I like that one better, because Webb can and will come back to his normal form. I would have an extra pitcher, but I could try to move one if need be. Trade 3: I give up Jimmy Rollins, Kevin Youkalis and C.C. Sabathia for Aubrey Huff, Ichiro and James Shields. I like the framework of it, but I’m not giving up on Sabathia yet. I may try to just cut out the pitchers and make it a Rollins/Youk for Huff/Ichiro trade. The problem is that I have a crowded OF as it is, so I would add an OF, but be thin at SS. Ichiro provides me with Steals though (probably more than Rollins will this year) and Huff probably will give me more power that Youkalis probably will. (Young has SS eligibility, so he would be moved to SS. I could drop Werth or Lind and pick up a shortstop (Hardy, Peralta, Drew or Tejada) or, I could drop worth or Lind and pick up a 3rd basemen (Chipper Jones, Mark Reynolds). Any thoughts? My team is 1st-Youkalis and Votto 2nd- Kinsler and Ricky Weeks SS- Rollins and Michael Young 3rd-Youkalis and Young C-Ianetta OF-Holliday, Rios, Lind, Werth, and Victorino. I have Casey Blake (1st and 3rd) as my replacement for Youkalis while he is on the DL. Pitchers- Cueto, Wandy Rodriguez, Sabathia, Volquez, Francisco Cordero and Mariano Rivera. Yeah, I've been told I think too hard with this. Its my 1st year, so I have to beat my brother in law. I'm going to reject all three trades. I'm probably moving Volquez for Garza or Joe Saunders. Then, dropping Werth for Taveras, since I seem to be getting owned at steals this year.
Please help me with my IMP math homework, Thanks in Advance!!? 1- if Chipper Jones if the Brave is batting 88, what is the probability that he gets 3 hits in row?.....3 outs in a row.
