National Baseball Hall of Fame Hat Question? I saw a hat at the National Baseball Hall of Fame with 5 MLB teams on it, Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Pirates, and another team. Here is a picture of the hat: http://img522.imageshack.us/my.php?image=n178300821301071893421mc6.jpg Does anyone know where this hat came from, or if there is a way to purchase this hat?
Should Pete Rose be in the National Baseball Hall of Fame? If you choose to answer this question please make a logical argument. Consider the circumstances surrounding hall of fame inductees both past and present.
Does the National Baseball Hall of Fame have a gift shop? I was wondering because I'm going there this summer.
Have you ever visited the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown, NY? if you have-when? and what did you like best? if not, then do you ever plan on visiting? * i live within 5 hours, so i go several times a year.Very recommended for the avid baseball fan. *my most memorable time-One day two years ago, i met Yogi Berra, Pete Rose, Don Mattingly, Burt Sugar, Angelo Dundee, and John Schneider (from The Dukes Of Hazzard! LOL) all in one day. got pics with every one of them (autographed) Just shows-you never know what a day at The Hall will prove to be! and believe it or not;Sugar and Dundee were there promoting a book they wrote together titled: A Day At The Hall. (I Think)LOL I was wrong; the title of Burt Sugar book is "burt sugar; Baseball Hall Of Fame".
Will Alex Rodriguez be a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame ? I hope so, i pray when he becomes eligible the writers don't screw him over. He arguably might be the greatest Major League Baseball player of all time. His years with texas will never leave people's mind, but he still is one the best. Ashley it's a shame that you're so beautiful but so stupid. Yes you heard me, he might turn out to be the greatest player to ever play the game thats why I said arguably. Right now A-Rod has a career average of .303 with 600 HR and 1,793 RBI. I imagine he has about 6 years left in him. Think about what he can do by the time his career is done. For right now, think about this fact. He is the only player to have ever lead the league in this many categories - Games played, plate appeareances, at bats, runs, hits, doubles, homeruns, RBI, batting average, slugging, ops, and total bases. He has won 11 awards, including 2 gold gloves and is making a case for another one this year. He is a 13 time all star. Since 1996, he's been one of the most dominating forces in sports. He has a world series under his belt, and is playing on the best team in sports. He is doing what the greats were doing and even better.
Why was Buck O'Neil, baseball legend, denied entry into the Hall of Fame? Buck O'Neil, 94, was a star of the old Negro Leagues and was Major League Baseball's first black coach and discovered many future stars. Why was he denied entry into the National Baseball Hall of Fame?? Anyone know? What are the qualifications for entry into the NBHF?
Have you been to the Hall of Fame? . How many people have been to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, in Cooperstown, NY? . . I've been twice and can't wait to make my way up there again. .
Do you think "ICHIRO" Suzuki is a Baseball Hall of Famer? * Do you think "Ichiro" is a first ballet Hall of Famer in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York? * Do you think "Ichiro" is the closes to Ty Cobb as a baseball player most of us will see in our life time or ever? - I believe "Ichiro" is a first ballet baseball hall of famer and is the closes to Ty Cobb as a baseball player I will see in my life time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichiro_Suzuki http://baseballhall.org/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ty_Cobb
Who else feels that Barry Bonds was wrong in saying what he did to Marc Ecko for buying the 756 baseball? Who else feels that Bonds is wrong in saying what he did to Marc Ecko for buying the 756 baseball for $750000. Ecko is allowing the public to vote on what to do with it: 1. give it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, 2.brand it with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown or 3.blast it into space on a rocket ship. The asterisk would represent bonds alleged steroid use. Bonds sayed that Ecko was an idiot for paying what he did for the ball. Why did Bonds care what the winning bidder did? It is legally Ecko's baseball now and he can do what he wants with it. also about what would you do if you had $750000. Just think marc ecko has tons more than that so thats not much for him. why does no one get that the $750K Ecko paid is small amount for him....Hes making TONS of cash from his clothing line.
What baseball player is this? In his first MLB game, entered the game as a pinch runner, and scored the winning run. Holder of several MLB records, including one which he passed Hank Aaron for the record. Has won the MVP award. Member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Bonus for which record he passed Hank Aaron to now be the record holder in that category?
Why is Steve Garvey not in the Baseball Hall of Fame? He had the longest National League playing streak, hit .294 lifetime, 290 Home Runs and a excellent fielding first baseman. I do think that he is better than some who are in now....
Should the Baseball HOF accept a defaced 756 HR baseball? In an ignorant marketing ploy, designer of K-Fed-style clothing Marc Ecko has decided to brand Barry Bonds' 756th Home Run ball with an asterisk. (He won't explain what the asterisk is for). The National Baseball Hall Of Fame plans to accept this ball and display it. Do you think they should? If not, sign the petition http://www.petitiononline.com/756/ Would the people calling Bonds a cheater please provide proof? Defacing such an historical baseball item should not be condoned, in my opinion. He bought it, he can deface it. But the HOF doesn't have to accept it. Bonds offered them many other items. btw, Does everyone realize that we have no proof of how the voting really went, and that anyone who voted was allowed to vote as many times as they wanted to? What a farce! Diane, You have no idea what you are talking about. Where do you get your information? Diane... "He quickly got bigger" Got proof? "He suddenly had more power." Really? News to me. Got proof? "So everytime he was injected, he thought he was taking something else?" Injected with what? What are you talking about? Proof? "The guy knew what he was doing." What was he doing? Got proof of any wrongdoing? "He knew it was illegal." What was illegal? Got proof? "But he did it anyway." Did what? Got proof? "He went against the rules of the game" Really? Which rules are those? Got proof of him going against any rules? "He knew he wouldn't put up the numbers he has today without it." Without what? Got proof? "Being a true player means respecting the game and he has done the absolute opposite of that throughout his career." That is 100% entirely incorrect. The person disrespecting the game is Marc Ecko, and anyone who voted to deface the ball. "Plain and simple, he cheated." Who? Ecko? How did Bonds cheat? Got proof? To summarize, Diane, you don't know what you're talking about, and obviously know and care nothing about baseball. Drwhofan> Maybe you should stick to watching dumb British TV shows. You obviously know nothing about bonds or baseball. "ecko released the voter info, you could only vote once per ip address. i voted. " Not true at all. Anyone could vote as many times as they wanted, and I doubt very many people voted at all. Ecko probably did most of the voting himself. "The fans voted online to brand the asterisk into the ball to stand for a tarnished record. " No they didn't. No real baseball fan would have voted for that. I think ecko and his employees did all the voting. No way to verify the votes.

Can someone tell me why former Cincinnati Reds President and GM is not in the Baseball Hall of fame ? Howsam built one of the greatest teams of all time in the 70`s. The Big Red Machine was arguably the greatest teams of all time. Howsam won a World Series in St Louis. In Cincinnati he won 4 NL Pennants and 2 World Series. Howsam hired a then-unproven but a future Hall-of-Fame skipper in Sparky Anderson. In fact when Anderson was hired the headline on the Cincinnati Enquirer read "Sparky Who" . “I thought he was crazy for hiring me.” said Anderson Then, in two masterful 1971 trades, he acquired second baseman Joe Morgan from the Houston Astros and outfielder George Foster from the Giants. In Cincinnati, Morgan would win 2 NL Most Valuable Player award in 1975-76 and earn credentials as a member of the Hall of Fame. Foster would hit 52 home runs for the Reds in 1977 — the only player to crack the half-century HR mark in the 1970s or 1980s. The '76 Cincinnati club, which won 102 regular season games, then swept both the Phillies in the 1976 National League Championship Series and the Yankees in the 1976 World Series, is usually considered one of the strongest in baseball history. The Sporting News named Howsam Major League Executive of the Year for 1973. Howsam also founded the NFL`s Denver Broncos. He built the field that later became Denver's Mile High Stadium He took part in the drive that started the Colorado Rockies as a National League expansion team in 1993. Is Howsam the greatest baseball executive of all-time ? Maybe not but certainly he has Hall of Fame credentials.
What are your answers to my imaginary abstract baseball scenario questions? Please answer these imaginary abstract baseball scenario questions? 1) You come home from work/school to find A-Rod popping a squat on your toilet. He explains his car broke down outside your place and he broke your window because he had to “go”. After stinking up your bathroom, he hands you a wad of money. Do you still call the police for the publicity, or do you let it go? 2) Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice are having lunch in to booth next to you. You are a lucky person. Since they are both eligible for the National Baseball Hall of Fame, they must be having lunch together after a photo opportunity, you assume. You decide to do a little eavesdropping. You overhear them talking about doing cocaine "back in the day". You are Godsmacked. Do say something to them? Do you say something to somebody else? 3) Royce Ring of the Cardinals has put an advertisement in all major baseball publications. He is having a contest where fans vote to give him a new first name. Weeks later the contest is over, the fans have spoken, and his new name is Ring-a-Ling Ring. He does not like his new “voted” name and decides not to change it after all. Do you lose respect for Royce Ring? 4) You drop off your cousin at little league practice, and you realize that Ozzie Smith is his coach. Wow! So, you decided to actually get out of the car, and walk the little rug rat to the dugout. Ozzie comes up and introduces himself. He explains that he is willing answer ANY question you ask him, just as long as you DO NOT use the word "you". What do you ask him? Thanks for your answers and have a great day!
Is there a such think as a hall of fame for baseball players ? if there is it is national or state to state for high school baseball player s
What did you love about Harry Kalas? Harry Kalas, a renowned announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies, who was admitted into broadcaster's wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 2002, having won the Ford C. Frick Award, which is presented to broadcasters who made major contributions to baseball died today at the age of 73. I will always remeber Harry's voice as he announced that the "Phillies have won the World Series!" What do you love and remember about Harry Kalas?

Will Ron Santo ever be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame? Best National League 3rd baseman of the 1960's should count for something. Does he have a leg to stand on? I prefer the term "irreverent" not "tasteless". Another reason why the baseball HOF is screwing Ron Santo. Insulin dependent diabetes had at least some impact on his playing, yet he performed at the highest levels for a long time. Sandy Koufax was inducted in the HOF with inferior career statistics recognizing arthritis shortened his career. So why doesn't Santo's disability merit any respect?
How much would an Ozzie Smith autograph be worth? I'm not looking to get rid of it just yet, but when Ozzie Smith was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002, they made a vast variety of products. He visited my school in 2007, right after my father passed away, and my principal had me meet him. He gave me 2 National Baseball Hall of Fame 2002 yearbooks that were signed by him (He signed them in front of me!), as well as a National Hall of Fame autographed baseball, and a autographed baseball cap. How much would these all be worth? They're defidently all authentic too, I met him!
Barry Bonds #756 Home Run Ball - What to do with it? Marc Ecko had the winning bid Saturday in the online auction for the ball that Bonds hit last month to break Hank Aaron's record of 755 home runs. The final selling price was $752,467, well above most predictions. Ecko, 35, has set up a Web site that lets visitors vote on three options for the ball: give it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, brand it with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown or blast it into space on a rocket ship. The asterisk would suggest that Bonds' record is tainted by alleged steroid use. The Giants slugger has denied knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs. 1) Give it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame 2) Brand it with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown 3) Blast it into space on a rocket ship Also Vote @ http://www.vote756.com/marcecko/...
If you had a son that was extremely talented in both baseball and painting? Would you try to convince him to aim for The Baseball Hall of Fame or The National Museum of Art?
Do you think Cy Young is myth or reality? Considering the fact Cy Young pitched from 1890-1921and baseball has changed so much, would Cy Young have achieved as much as he did in his lifetime, pitching in 21st Century baseball? Is Cy Young a legitimate barometer for pitchers of just some romantic figure during a time when baseball was just starting? Just some facts for anyone who answers.... Young, Cy (1867-1955), was one of the greatest right-handed pitchers in the history of baseball. Young won a record 511 major league games from 1890 through 1911. He also holds the record for the most innings pitched (7,356), the most complete games (753), and the most losses (313). Young pitched for the Cleveland Spiders, St. Louis Nationals, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Boston Braves. Young was born on March 29, 1867, in Gilmore, Ohio. His full name was Denton True Young. He received the nickname "Cy" after a catcher said he was "as fast as a cyclone." He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. He died on Nov. 4, 1955. At the end of each season, the Cy Young Award is given to the outstanding pitcher in the National League and the American League.

Oops, for #5 I meant NBHOF, not NBOH.

Who here agrees that Alex Rodriguez should get banned and kicked out from the Hall Of Fame? First he admitted that he took steroids from 2001-2003 and now there are stories that he took steroids in high school.REASONS WHY HE SHOULD NOT GET IN THE HOF "Rodriguez was a star shortstop at Miami's Westminster Christian High School. In 100 games he batted .419 with 90 steals. Westminster went on to win the high school national championship in his junior year. He was first team prep All-American as a senior, hitting .505 with 9 home runs, 36 RBI, and 35 steals in 35 tries in 33 games, and was selected as the USA Baseball Junior Player of the Year and as Gatorade's national baseball student athlete of the year."From wikipedia. He took steroids in highschool and look how great were his highschool stats.Rodriguez was drafted first overall by the Seattle Mariners in 1993 He admitted that he took steroids from 2001 to 2003.He Made $22 million a year from 2001 to 2003. In 2001 his stats were:52 HR,135 rbis. 2002:.57 HR,142 rbis 2003:47 HR,118 RBIs(He was mvp that year) Those are his stats for the years he admitted that he took steroids. After the 2003 season, every year he hit more than 34 homeruns. Why shouldn't baseball Apologize to Mark McGwire, Bonds and Sosa? I am currently 43. I have been a baseball fan for many, many years. After the strike ruined season on 1994 baseball was in big trouble. Enter Mark McGwire to the rescue. As a rookie who had clubbed 49 home runs, still the major league rookie record, he continued on his record setting home run pace. From 1995 - 2000 he was the Darling of Major League Baseball, the fan favorite at the All Star Games.Bud Selig and the Owners enjoyed the record number of fans packing out the stadiums to see Mighty Mark swing for the fences. Rumors of performance enhancing medicines were surfacing in the 70's and 80's. George Foster of the Reds went from barely hitting home runs to 52 HR's in 1977....Should we question the records of Tom Seaver, Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson, Boomer Scott, George Brett, Rick Monday, Dave Kingman. Performance enhancing drugs were available at the time...anyone remember the name of Lyle Alzado from the National Football League? McGwire, Sosa, Bonds. Hall of Fame!!! So many lame answers that I suspect many of the answers have come from know nothing, prejudiced sports fans, most likely to be closet sports writers. Baseball Fans, voted fir McGwire, Sosa and Bonds as they rescued MLB from the horrors of the interuption of the baseball season that was engineered intentionally by the TEAM OWNERS. No one pays to see the Owners, they pay to see the players. A lousy sports writer invaded the privacy of Mark McGwire by putting his noes where it did not belong. How many of you want some newspaper guy looking around in your car? How about your closet? Mark McGwire was NOT using an Illegal Substance. The Andro that he was using was NOT banned by the US Goverment, nor was it banned from MLB. People who are unbiased, who look at the facts, know that Baseball owes apologies to McGwire, Bonds and Sosa and that they all belong in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Mark McGwire set the major league record for home runs by a rookie. This record is still standing. Mark McGwire also has the record for hitting 500 home runs in the lowest number of at bats for his career. Mark McGwire did not do anything illegal, nor did he do anything that was breaking rules of Major League Baseball. Mark McGwire has been the victim of Sports Writers. It takes tremendous skill to hit a baseball thrown by major league pitchers. Mark McGwire connected with more frequency per at bat than anyone in Baseball History. Mark McGwire's numbers over his shortened major league career make him worthy of the Baseball Hall of Fame. At one time Major League Pitchers could legally throw Spitters. When the pitch was banned older pitchers who had been using the pitch were allowed via a "grandfather" clause to continue to throw the pitch. McGwire did nothing wrong. Just used cutting edge sports medicine that may one day be of benefit to those who down him now.
As a hobbyist or collector, what was the most you ever paid for anything you were interested in buying? What was the item stamp, coin, painting, etc...? Honus Wagner Baseball Card Sold for $2.35M 'Holy Grail of Baseball Cards' Bought by Collector By ANDREW GLAZER AP Sports LOS ANGELES (Feb. 26) - The "Holy Grail of baseball cards," the famous 1909 Honus Wagner tobacco card once owned by hockey great Wayne Gretzky, has sold for a record-setting $2.35 million, the seller of the card said Monday. The buyer has only been identified as a Southern California collector. There are about 60 of the tobacco cards in existence featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop, one of the first five players to be inducted in Baseball's Hall of Fame. The seller Brian Seigel in 2000 paid a then-record $1,265,000 for the prize card, which is in better condition than the rest. "This particular one was preserved in spectacular condition," said Joe Orlando, president of Professional Sports Authenticator of Newport Beach - the company that certified the authenticity of the card. "It's the Holy Grail of baseball cards." Still, the Wagner cards are so rare that even those in much worse condition will sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars, Seigel said. The others "you could stick in middle of the street and let cars drive over it through the day, take it in your hand and crumple it up, and it still would be a $100,000 card," said Seigel, CEO of Emerald Capital LLC, an asset management company, who lives in Las Vegas. The tobacco cards used to be included in packs of cigarettes. Collectors believe Wagner's cards are so rare because he stopped allowing a cigarette company to use his image, fearing it would encourage children to smoke. Nicknamed the "Flying Dutchman," Wagner was the National League batting champion in eight of his 21 seasons and finished his career with a lifetime .329 average. He retired in 1917 with more hits, runs, RBI, doubles, triples steals than any National League player.

Can someone check my Capitalization and puncuation please? Jack (Jackie) Roosevelt Robinson 1919-1972 was born in Pasadena, California. After excelling in sports in high school and community college, he transferred to UCLA, where he lettered in four sports: Baseball, football, and track. In World War II, he was commissioned second Lieutenant in the Army. After he was discharged, he joined the Negro League as a player with the Kansas City Monarchs for $100 a week. In 1947, he was offered a tryout with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Before that time, no African Americans had been allowed to participate in the minor or major leagues. After signing a contract, Jackie Robinson was sent to the minor leagues and there he played for one year with Montreal, a team in the International League. Following a year in which he was the best hitter in the league, he was brought up to the major leagues. During the first year, 1947, he showed his greatness and was named the Rookie of the Year. Two years later, he was the Most Valuable Player in the National League and won the batting title with a .342 average. Despite the initial bigoted opposition by some baseball fans and players, he performed with dignity, courage, and skill. Nevertheless, he was an independent, proud person. In the book, “Players of Cooperstown,” Mike Tully wrote, “He Robinson refused to be someone he was not refused to conform to an image of a man who ‘knew his place.’” Sports are such a high profile activity. Jackie Robinson is credited with playing a significant role in breaking down the racial barriers in society. In his ten years in the major leagues, he helped his team reach the World Series, six times. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.

Is this player a Hall of Famer? This is not a real player, I have a baseball simulation game and I was wondering whether you believe this person qualifies for the Hall of Fame. In reality, he was a starting second basemen for 8 years with the Pittsburgh Pirates of the 1940s. In my game, he was the starting second basemen of the Los Angeles Pirates (I moved the team there in 1943) dynasty from 1945 to 1956. Keep in mind this is the 1940s, so home runs are not a major qualifying factor for the Hall of Fame. Also keep in mind that voting in the 1940s was much more lenient than today. Here are his career stats: 1547 games played 664 runs 1662 hits 294 doubles 42 triples 21 home runs 797 RBI 471 BB 414 K 44 SB .297 BA .351 OBP .250 career World Series batting average 1945 Rookie of the Year National League All Star in 1946 and 1947 6 time World Series Champion He began his career late, at age 25. Injuries ended his career when he was just 36 years old. So, what do you think? Is he a Hall of Famer? By the way, the game is Baseball Mogul...I strongly recommend it to anyone who loves baseball.
Pitchers durability Answer this baseball buffs? How could the pitchers in the 70's and early 80' starts over 40 games for over 20 years, and hardly ever tail off. Where as today's pitchers pitch around 30 to 33, are very lucky to pitch 20 seasons, and always tail off, as well as have a few ijury plauged seasons. The exception being Roger Clemens. There are always exeptions but the difference is pretty drastic when you think about it. The old school guys also completed over 20 games no problem...today we are lucky if they finish 5! Don't just tell me the game is played differently. These old guys that pitched all these games hardly got injured. Phil Niekro, Gaylord Perry ect. Mabye that's just what it takes to be a Hall of Fame pitcher and there is an absence of pitching talent nowdays. Most wins in National Leauge last year: 16 What do you think?
Were the 1976 Reds the greatest team in baseball history? Their starting 8 was Johny Bench, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, Ken Griffey, Dave Concepcion, George Foster and Cesar Geronimo. They swept the playoffs and world series (only team to do so) The 1976 Reds led the major leagues in 10 major offensive and defensive categories -- runs, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, walks, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and fielding average. No other team has ever led all these categories in their own league in one season, let alone all of baseball. (They also led the NL in stolen bases) The actual starters on this team only played TOGETHER 57 times in 1976. So that makes the numbers even more staggering. Seven of the eight Reds starters made the National League All-Star team. The one who didn't -- centerfielder Cesar Geronimo -- hit .307 and won his third straight Gold Glove. This team had 4 hall of famers (if you include the all-time hit king) and a hall of fame manager in Sparky Anderson.
Harry Kalas dead at age 73? From ESPN: WASHINGTON -- Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas has died at the age of 73, team president David Montgomery said Monday. Kalas, who also filled a voiceover role for NFL Films since 1975, was taken to a hospital Monday after passing out in the broadcast booth before Monday's game against the Washington Nationals. The 73-year-old Kalas, known for his distinctive "Outta here!" call on home runs, was found by the Phillies director of broadcasting at about 12:30 p.m., Montgomery said. Kalas joined the Phillies in 1971. Before that, he was an original member of the Houston Astros' broadcast team from 1965-70. In 2002, he received the Baseball Hall of Fame's Ford C. Frick Award for his contributions to the game. Thoughts? R.I.P.
Should the Washington Nationals try to celebrate Walter Johnson's career, as a way to bring attention to team? Just an idea. They're not having that good of a season. Johnson did play for the Washington team, and retired to live in Maryland. Widely considered one of the top 5 best baseball pitchers ever, and was First Ballot for Hall of Fame. On the other hand, he's been dead for about 60 years.

Is it safe to say that the University of Southern California is MLB's baseball factory? The Trojans, who won 12 National Titles, produced a plethora of MLB talent: -Tom Seaver, a Hall of Famer -Fred Lynn, the best player not to make the Hall of Fame -Ron Fairly -Steve Buford -Steve Kemp -Mark McGuire -Randy Johnson -Bret Boone -Aaron Boone -Jacque Jones -Morgan Ensberg -Bary Zito -Mark Prior -J.P. Howell -Jeff Clement, a top 3 pick a few years ago There are about 30 other Trojans who are currently in the League, but listing them all will be tedious. @Alex- It'll help if you can justify your answer with some proof, instead of throwing some random schools out there. I know Texas has had a couple of good players, such as Huston Street and Drew Stubbs, but that's about it. @Nate- Oh, that's fair. Let's compare an entire country to a University, which consists of less than 1% of the population of Country it's being compared to. Also, I well I'm aware that baseball prospects jump straight from Prep school to the Pros.
Should football now be called "The National Pastime"? Baseball lost it's popularity over the years and it started the decline since the 50's. The steroids did great damage to the sport. Football has gained popularity since the 1950's and hasn't slowed down because of Vince Lombardi, Pete Rozelle, John Madden, Joe Namath, Johnny Unitas, Super Sunday, etc. There is also no steroid scandals and although there has been a videotape scandal, the game was saved with a dramatic Super Bowl. Last, there are so many traditions with football such as the Rose Bowl, Thanksgiving Football, Conference Championship Sunday, Hall of Fame Game, Pro Bowl, and Super Sunday. Baseball also is boring to watch unlike football.
Is there a worse sports city on Earth than Toronto? Toronto is the only Canadian city with representation in five major league sports, with teams in the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, Canadian Football League, and Major League Soccer. The National Football League's Buffalo Bills also play select home games in the city. The city's major sports venues include the Air Canada Centre, Rogers Centre (formerly known as SkyDome), Ricoh Coliseum, and BMO Field. Toronto is home to the Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the National Hockey League's Original Six clubs, and has also served as home to the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1958. The city has a rich history of hockey championships. Along with the Maple Leafs' 13 Stanley Cup titles (second all-time), the Toronto Marlboros and St. Michael's College School-based Ontario Hockey League teams combined have won a record 12 Memorial Cup titles. The Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League also play in Toronto at Ricoh Coliseum and are the farm team for the Maple Leafs. They are currently the only AHL team that is located in the same market as its NHL parent club. Toronto is currently home to the only National Basketball Association franchise outside the United States. The Toronto Raptors entered the league in 1995, and have since earned five playoff spots in 14 seasons. The Raptors won the Atlantic Division title in the 2006–07 season, led by star player Chris Bosh. The Raptors are the only NBA team with their own television channel, Raptors NBA TV. The team plays their home games at the Air Canada Centre. The Toronto Rock are the city's National Lacrosse League team. They are one of the league's most successful franchises, winning five Champion's Cup titles in seven years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, appearing in an NLL record 5 straight championship games from 1999 to 2003, and are currently second all-time in the number of Champion's Cups won. The Rock share the Air Canada Centre with the Maple Leafs and the Raptors. The city is represented in the Canadian Football League by the Toronto Argonauts, who have won a league-leading 15 Grey Cup titles. Toronto played host to the 95th Grey Cup in 2007, the first held in the city since 1992. In addition, the city has hosted several National Football League exhibition games; Ted Rogers leased the Buffalo Bills from Ralph Wilson for the purposes of having the Bills play eight home games in the city between 2008 and 2012. The city is also home to Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays, who have won two World Series (1992 and 1993) titles and are currently the only Major League Baseball team in Canada. Both the Argonauts and Blue Jays (as well as the Bills when they are in town) play their home games at the Rogers Centre, in the downtown core. Toronto is home to the International Bowl, an NCAA sanctioned post-season football game that puts a Mid-American Conference team against a Big East Conference team. Beginning in 2007, the game is played at the Rogers Centre annually in January. .Besides team sports, the city annually hosted Champ Car's Molson Indy Toronto at Exhibition Place from 1986 to 2007. The race was revived in 2009 as the Honda Indy Toronto, part of the IndyCar Series schedule. Both thoroughbred and standardbred horse racing events are conducted at Woodbine Racetrack in Rexdale. Historic sports clubs of Toronto include the Granite Club (established in 1836), the Royal Canadian Yacht Club (established in 1852), the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club (established in pre-1827), the Argonaut Rowing Club (established in 1872), the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club (established in 1881), and the Badminton and Racquet Club (established in 1924). Toronto was a candidate city for the 1996 and 2008 Summer Olympics, which were awarded to Atlanta and Beijing respectively. The Canadian Olympic Committee is currently considering a Toronto bid for the 2020 or 2024 Summer Olympics. Toronto will be hosting the 2015 Pan American Games in July 2015. It contested against the cities of Lima, Peru and Bogotá, Colombia. Every single team in Toronto SUCKS! Toronto Maple Leafs...SUCK!!!!!!! Toronto Argos.....SUCK!!!!!!! Toronto Blue Jays SUCK Toronto Raptors SUCK SUCK Toronto FC SUCK Toronto University and York University Football are two of the worst in Canada! WHY does the nations largest city have such horrid sports teams? For all you idiot Americans talking about how the CFL doesn't count I have news for you, but the Argos are second to the Leafs in popularity in this city. And literally NOBODY cares about the Toronto FC or the lacrosse teams. It goes 1. Leafs 2. Argos 3. Blue Jays 4. Raptors 5. FC And the more important the sports, the worse the Toronto teams suck!

Autographs of Stan "The Man" Musial & Ozzie Smith? Need some advice on some baseball memorabilia that I have owned since I was a kid. I have an autograph baseball from Stan "The Man" Musial and Ozzie Smith. They are both signed on official National League baseballs and are in pretty good condition just that the balls have aged over the years. I also have an autograph hall of fame picture from Ozzie Smith from 1992. Here are my questions: 1. Does anyone know that base value's that these baseballs may sell for? I've searched and found around a $100 but want to know if someone knows if they can go for more or where I find this information. 2. How do you go about getting the baseballs authenticated? I am a little skeptical about shipping them to someone over the internet and have no clue where to look for someone in a city (Atlanta specifically). 3. Any links I should go to? These questions apply for the picture as well. Any help is greatly appreciated since I have little clue on where to start. Thanks!
Should any writer who missed the steroid scandal be ineligible for the Spink Award? They're in the locker rooms, see the players' physiques, pick up the buzz -- and yet EVERY sportswriter in America completely missed the steroid scandal in real time. What a bunch of incompetents. Should the Hall Of Fame summarily rule that any writer who was covering baseball -- team beat, national beat, only showed up during the World Series to graze the free buffet, whatever -- be permanently ineligible for consideration of its J. G. Taylor Spink Award, the highest honor any member of the BBWAA can aspire to in recognition of his or her contributions to written coverage of the game? Surely the steroids story was a Pulitzer just waiting to be claimed, and no one did. Besides, until the Spink Award includes ALL baseball writers and not just the BBWAA membership, it's just a joke. Bill James should have won a half-dozen by now.
Who will be the players from our generation that will be remembered forever? I know there are some players that are sure Hall of Famers, but there are a lot of guys in the Hall of Fame who many of us dont know too much about. Then there are players like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Joe Dimaggio, Lou Gehrig, and Ty Cobb. Players that are recognized everywhere. Even though most of them are long gone, everyone knows who they are, because not only were they baseball legends, but national icons. In today's game, who will be added to this list of baseball gods? Who do we have today to remember our era by? Even though this era was defined by steroids and scandal, there will be 1 or 2 players that everyone remembers. Who will be the players that define our era and will leave thier mark on baseball for decades to come? I asked my dad and he said only one person came to mind: Manny Ramirez. In his opinion, Manny has transcended the game. The qualities of Babe, Dimaggio and Hammerin' Hank were that they were not only the best of thier eras, but that they were larger than life. They defined the term "major league baseball player." Manny has done this, he still is one of the top 5 players in the league today, even at 36, he enjoys playing the game and has fun while doing it. Even though he may not be the best man to have in your clubhouse, he is a widely recognizable figure in modern sports, more so than just about any other athlete today. If I could think of one other person, it would be Derek Jeter, only because of how much the city of New York reveres him. And if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere, like the only saying goes.
Cuba owns the WBC!!!? The small island nation of Cuba has the most awards in the baseball playing world. Back when US and Cuban relations were stable in mob rule Havana of the 30's-50's the Yankee WS and Orioles WS teams played the Cuban National team in friendlies and guess who won - Cuba. In the Olympics - baseball, Cuba has participated 5x. 3 of the 5x they have achieved gold medals and the other 2x they received silver medals. In the Caribbean they almost always constantly beat Venezuela, Puerto Rico (US), DR, and Mexico. In the last WBC they took out Venezuela, Puerto Rico (US), the DR, and the USA and almost rallied back against Japan from a sluggish start. They were caught off guard, but won't happen again. Cubans have always prided themselves in their baseball abilities. I mean a lot of Cuban players made a name for themselves in the MLB and more of them would exceeding the numbers of Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and Venezuelans there are in the MLB if it weren't for the embargo and restrictions the US and Cuba have. Think about it. Outside of, Rafael Palmeiro - Used to be respected. Is the black sheep of Cuba for his steroid abuse. He is a member of the 500 HR club, but a lot of questions arise concerning Rafy. Jose Canseco - Is another outsider that in Cuba is detested his family name holds no water there. There have been many great Cubans to grace the game and would be more if not for said blockade. Jose Contreras - World Series winning pitcher El Duke Hernandez - Multiple World Series winning pitcher Livan Hernandez - Solid pitcher for a couple of seasons. Tino Martinez - Great first basemen and multiple World Series winner Alexei Ramirez - Solid year w/ the White Sox Tony Perez - Hall of Fame player, Big Red Machine ----------------------------------- Yulieski Gourriel - The star of Cuba's WBC National team at 25 years old is one of the most heavily touted internationals MLB scouts have admitted would be a 1st round pick if ever eligible. Last WBC Cuba beat Venezuela, PR (USA), DR, and USA
Is Justin Upton the "real deal"? I read this article a while ago on Justin Upton. Now, I don't get to watch a lot of the Diamondbacks unless if they are playing on ESPN, FOX, or against the Cubs, because I live in Chicago and I am a White Sox fan and that's the only way i watch a lot of NL action. Here's something that really stood out to me in this article: (as seen here: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ti-upton042508&prov=yhoo&type=lgns) "Not 24 hours earlier, I’d stood at Hudson’s locker and asked him what Upton would become, asked him what we were looking at here. He’d thought about it for a full 20 seconds. “Sheffield.” His answer had sent me looking for other opinions. A National League scout: “Manny.” Another NL talent evaluator: “A right-handed-hitting Ken Griffey Jr.” That’s almost 1,600 home runs. Thirty-three All-Star games. Three Hall-of-Fame speeches." is he for real? I mean I watch Baseball Tonight, so I watch see some of him and some highlight plays of his, but I mean Sheffield? Griffey Jr.? Manny? I don’t know what to think about that; just even thinking about those names and numbers put together is unbelievable . What is your take on him?
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT MY ESSAY? I don't live in the United States either English countries. So don't expect that my essay will be all that. Since in my country, english is a second language, and many people don't care for it. So it's pretty difficult to write a good essay. I hope you guys can help me. =] Here goes nothing... Simple Essay: Will the United States of North America mind that Puerto Rico has its own Mount Rushmore? Considering that many Puerto Ricans help and contributed in the well being of society. Just to name a few of them, I will say: Roberto Clemente, Luis Munoz Marin and Luis A Ferre. Awarded as the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1996, Roberto Clemente was and is the most famous baseball player from all times. He played in Professional Baseball Leagues both in Puerto Rico and the United States. I wouldn't choose him for his great talent, is for the morals and his charitable acts he has accomplished through his life. He was involved with many countries in Latin America delivering baseball equipment and food for the needy. He is the first Latin American to be elected to the Hall of Fame in 1973. He also has won two MVP awards in 1966 and 1971. Another famous Puerto Rican figure is Luis Muñoz Marin, for his great status as a poet, journalist and politician. Best known as the first democratically elected Governor of Puerto Rico. Many people say that he was one of the greatest Governor that powered the beautiful island. Mr. Muñoz worked for justice and rights, and fought for the creation of a Constitution for Puerto Rico to better out a progress of economically and politically. He had a clear vision that Puerto Rico can do batter, therefore, he served sixteen years as Governor. His achievements made him to earn the title as “Father of Modern Puerto Rico”. Breaking the Popular Democratic Party’s 28-year domination, Luis Alberto Ferre won the governorship in 1968, also another great leader of ours. He was a Puerto Rican politician, engineer and business man whom ran a family cemetery company. The great Free was first elected to the island’s House of Representatives in 1952. As a millionaire, Free wasn’t a selfish man, worried that Puerto Rico will go n a low status. In 1967 he founded the pro-statehood New Progressive party and was in the Puerto Rican legislature for two terms. Conclusion (AND THESIS): History is a great science; is a study of our process of human evolution. Wonderful men and women had become across of our history and had left they "prints” and memories, and shall be remember for they good acts. We should choose wisely the people we are going to pick for this great monument. And what about the artist who is going to create the Criollo version of Mount Rushmore? Let it be the best of all. This artistic monument shall represent who we truly are and give the honor for those pople who deserves it.

This just in - impeachment proceedings to begin next week - your thoughts? Hall of Fame Pitcher and current US Senator Jim Bunning (R-Ken.) has announced that he will introduce a motion on the floor of the Senate next week calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama. In a press release dated July 15, 2009, Bunning stated that, "The entire community of baseball fans and other good Americans are incredibly disappointed in the quality of pitching that has been exhibited by President Obama last night in St. Louis. I feel that, as a former pitcher, it is my duty to protect the integrity of this time honored tradition of Presidential first pitches, and feel that we need to get a President who does not throw like a girl. While I appreciate President Obama's economic programs, his health care initiatives, and his deep understanding of both foreign and domestic policy, I simply can not have my country be embarrassed by another liberal who can't be bothered to attend to the affairs of pitching. Not only will I call for his impeachment, but I am also sponsoring a Constitutional Amendment declaring that anyone who can not throw at least 85 mph and throw strikes consistently be considered ineligible for election, not only to the Presidency, but to any elected office, whether it be at the federal, state, county or municipal level, throughout this great baseball loving land of ours." When asked if he had polled his constituency, Bunning replied, 'No, not directly. But being that more fans in on line forums seem concerned about the first pitch than the actual game itself, it is obvious that this is the hot button topic for all good Americans. Only liberals and communists would actually think the game itself is what mattered. True Americans, that is the ones smart enough to know that all liberals throw like girls realize that President Obama's lack of pitching ability is proof that he is sympathetic to Muslim interests, and is also definitive proof that he could not possibly actually be a native born American citizen, and should be treated as a direct threat on our national security, and to the high regard in which Americans are held all over the world." What do you think? Does Senator Bunning have a point? Discuss.

1) Give it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame 2) Brand it with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown 3) Blast it into space on a rocket ship Also Vote @ http://www.vote756.com/marcecko/
