The end of the baseball Hall of fame game in Cooperstown ? What happen to traditions? Due to players schedules , But the MLB DOESN'T have a problem playing games in Japan. Is it because MLB owners are looking to bring more Japan players here? What about the traditions of MLB playing baseball at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Why would you want to stop playing in Cooperstown, seeing that's the closes MOST of the players will get to Cooperstown. Bet if it was in LA or in NYC Flordia they would NEVER stop playing .

Is there an exhibit at the baseball hall of fame honoring the women of the All American Girls Baseball League? Though I know it's fictionalized, I've seen the movie "A League of Their Own" hundreds of times since it came out. At the end of the movie, the women are at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY for the grand opening of an exhibit on the AAGPBL. While obviously, the exhibit would honor real players, not those in the film -- does such an exhibit exist? I can't find anything on the Hall of Fame's website, and it was always something I wanted to see. Does this exist, or was it just for the movie? Does anyone who has been there recently know?
Can Roberto Hernandez make the baseball Hall of Fame? Can the former closer of the Pirates and Indians make the Hall of Fame? He has 326 Career saves, with a great career ERA of 3.31. Is he destined for Cooperstown?
Should the Baseball Hall of Fame have levels? This is for you baseball fans out there. How would you feel if the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown had three levels of hall of fame players, Gold Silver and Bronze (or something like that). Gold would be your super-duper, no-brainer HOFers (Ruth, Gehrig, Johnson, Gibson, etc), Silver would be your definitely-in-but-not-Ruthian level (Killebrew, Wynn, Klein, etc), while the Bronz would be for the borderline guys (Maz, Blyleven, Santo, Cepeda, Rice, etc) I think it would work for (just about)everyone, because the small-hall people could just consider the Gold Level as the 'true' Hall of Fame, while the total Hall could expand to include some borderline guys like Trammell, Murphy and Whitaker without being a problem. Or am I the only one who wouldn't have a problem with this? Any ideas on how they could determine who goes where? Thanks for the input! My goal would be to 1:appease those who don't like having cepeda, rice, mazeroski, mcphee being compared with Ruth, Mathewson and Mays and 2: to bring in a handful of players who can't get in because they're being compared to the uber-greats (like Santo and Dawson). Meanwhile, most people don't seem to realise who's actually in the HOF: Of the 234 (?) players in there, I bet a lot of people can't name half (Sisler, Cochrane, Gehringer- and those are guys who were locks! Point being, the HOF is not what some people think it is.) Again, I would have no idea how the level thing would actually WORK; some good ideas would be, well, good. Not to mention Jake Beckley, Lou Boudreau, Kiki Cuyler and Herb Pennock, who I think ARE Hall of Famers. The level-process would be as fair as possible, considering factors such as position and era. Maybe some scholars or something? And I'm not talking about first-floor, basement-type stuff, or even separate rooms. Just, I don't know...
which player in the baseball hall of fame has the worst stats? in other words, is there anyone in cooperstown who it could be said does not belong to be there? what are the minimum requirements for getting into the hall? how many votes does someone need? and how many voters are there?
What are the baseball writers looking for when voting for a player for election in MLB's Hall of Fame? A baseball player retires from the game of baseball, and in 5 years, if he doesn't play in a baseball game in those 5 years, he becomes eligible for voting for voting by baseball's writers, but what are they looking for, stats wise, when voting whether or not to elect that player into MLB's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. And of course, they get 15 years, where they can appear on the ballot, in case they aren't elected in the first year.
Does the MLB own the baseball hall of fame? mlb baseball cooperstown ownership

Baseball Hall of Fame Question - Bricks On Field? I was just watching a show on MLB about Cooperstown and a portion of the show was about the attached baseball field. They said that bricks could be purchased to be placed in the walkways and common areas and such it looked like, but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the official HOF site. Does anyone know any additional information or how much it costs? I'm keenly interested in purchasing one. Thanks in advance.
I am going to the Baseball Hall of Fame ceromony in July & staying in Syracuse. What's the best way to attend. I have been to Cooperstown 3 times before but never during an induction ceromony, I know this year will be crowded as Cal and Tony get in. Ive heard many hotels will bus people in also. Have you been to the Hall of Fame? . How many people have been to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, in Cooperstown, NY? . . I've been twice and can't wait to make my way up there again. .
Should I visit the basketball hall of fame in Springfield? My family will be driving to Buffalo and Boston this July. I am a HUGE basketball fan as is my son and we are contemplating a visit to the basketball hall of fame. So I am wondering if anyone has visited and what you thought of it. What is their to do? How do the exhibits compare in terms of scope, interactivity, expertise, diversity of exhibits to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Baseball in Cooperstown and Hockey in Toronto (thought hockey was ok, loved baseball and rock however baseball is my fav sport or passion for that matter). Will a devoted, religious hoops fan feel as if he has achieved nirvana or would he simply feel unimpressed?
How much does it cost to take a bus to Cooperstown? I'm budgeting a trip to the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. How much is the fare for the Adirondack Pine Trail Bus Service that goes up there because Cooperstown is not listed on their fare and schedule page.

baseball hall of fame and the steroid era? of these players, who do you think deserves to be in cooperstown? and who will get in? -manny ramirez -mark mcgwire -sammy sosa -ivan rodriguez -barry bonds -rafael palmero -rodger clemens -mike piazza (all players have been or are implicated to have used steroids)
Do you think "ICHIRO" Suzuki is a Baseball Hall of Famer? * Do you think "Ichiro" is a first ballet Hall of Famer in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York? * Do you think "Ichiro" is the closes to Ty Cobb as a baseball player most of us will see in our life time or ever? - I believe "Ichiro" is a first ballet baseball hall of famer and is the closes to Ty Cobb as a baseball player I will see in my life time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichiro_Suzuki http://baseballhall.org/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ty_Cobb
Baseball Hall of Fame, Shock and awe? Blyleven and Alomar not really a shock or was it? Alomar covered more then 20 percent to be elected in his second year of eligibility. Has any other Hall of Famer missed on his first ballot to be named on more than 90 percent the following year? How about the performance of John Franco and Kevin Brown, 1 and done ? Borderline Hall of Famers at the best but 1 and done, shocking, your thoughts? Probably most shocking was the lack of support for known steroid users (Palmeiro, McGwire, Juan Gone) are the writers finally standing up and saying no known steroid users will EVER be enshrined in Cooperstown, all received less than 20 percent and Juan Gone nearly missed 1 and done by only a few votes? your thoughts ? And finally, after the last several years of lack luster Hall of Fame induction ceremonies with out much fan fare, will 2011 see Cooperstown and surrounding towns sold out before you can say "Play Ball" in march ?
Why are so any average pitchers in the baseball hall of fame? It seems like deserving players get penalized because they played for 15 years or less even though they were dominant but a guy who hangs on for dear life who got the 3000ks and 300 wins with 500 winning percentages or worse got in why is that .As impressive as Nolan Ryans 5000 strikeouts is he was a average pitcher at best Phil Niekro is another one that was average and got in but people like Don Newcombe got penalized because of longevity even though they were dominant .Looking at it this way I think cooperstown looses some credibility because the hall of famers are supposed to be the best of the best not average players with the appropriate numbers.
What town or city is near Cooperstown, NY where I can get a nice hotel.? Trying to get a weekend in Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer but all the nicer hotels in Cooperstown seem to be booked. Don't mind going out of town since we'll be driving anyway. Any suggestions for a nice place to stay. Travelling with a 10 year old boy.
Who are the Top NHL Hall of Fame Snub's So Far (Read On)? Amonung players eligiable whoa ren't in the Hall. Oh also. I won't be on for a few days. I'm heading down for the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony's in Cooperstown. Bon Voyage
Here we go! Mark McGwire is on the ballot for baseball's Hall of Fame...Would you favor McGwire's induction? McGwire Great, but He Won't Get This Vote Cheaters Just Don't Belong in Cooperstown By RICHARD JUSTICE AOL Sports Commentary Baseball will hold its first referendum on steroids in January. That's what Mark McGwire's first appearance on the Hall of Fame ballot amounts to. McGwire won't get in this year. That's pretty much a lock based on conversations with my colleagues. Whether he ever gets in is another story. This year's balloting might reveal how Barry Bonds , Raffy Palmeiro, etc., will be treated when they're eligible. At some point, all of us who cast ballots are hoping for some clarity on the issue of steroid use. I've said I won't vote for Mark McGwire or any other player who I believe used steroids. They are cheats. Period. Using performance-enhancing drugs is a health risk and compels other players to take the same risk. It sends a terrible message to kids. How would you vote on the issue of Mark McGwire being inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame?
Tips for someone attending the Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies this year? I'll be flying to Massachusetts, then driving up with dad. We were planning on getting a hotel room in Albany (and booking it really soon), then driving up halfway early in the morning to get a good place to sit for the ceremonies. Is Albany a good place to stay? god knows Cooperstown sold out a long time ago.. What time would you arrive on Sunday morning, and where on earth do we park? Is there any other "can't miss" activities that we should be participating in on Saturday or Sunday? Thanks in advance for the help! Edit: Amazing that when people don't know an answer, they just act like idiots and answer anyway. Warms my heart. >_<
What ever happened to Cooperstown Collection wine? Cooperstown wine is wine with Baseball Hall of Fame players on the bottle. In 2006 Rollie Fingers was the first player on the bottle but it's now 2011 and I haven't seen/heard ANYTHING on when another player is going to be released. And there web page www.cooperstowncurvee.com SUCKS...no contact info at all. Did this company go down in flames?
What's the best place to stay in Cooperstown, NY in the winter? We're planning a long weekend getaway to the Baseball Hall of Fame and the museums and antique stores in Cooperstown, NY. We want to stay somewhere where we can walk to most places, if possible. We'll be there in either January or February. We're used to fairly nice lodging, and are happy with either an inn or hotel, as long as the location is good. We'd love some restaurant recommendations as well. Thanks!
No more Hall of Fame Game in Cooperstown ? I heard this on the news , this June will be the last game due to players schedules , since the 1940's this game was played , is it not time for the MLB to dance with the ones who brung um ( Fan's ) ?. Additional Details 22 minutes ago Next thing you know they will be moving the Baseball ha Moving the hall of fame to a place that works best for them...
The Barry Bonds 756th homerun ball is going to Cooperstown with an asterisk. What do you think? Marc Ecko bought the ball in an auction and he allowed the public to decide what to do with the ball in an internet vote. Over 10 million people (including me) voted and when the results were in the public decided that the ball should go to the Baseball Hall of Fame with an asterisk permanently branded on it. The other choices were to send it to Cooperstown as is or launch it into space. 47% voted for the asterisk. Did you vote? Do you think that the voters made the correct choice?
What kind of documents are required to enter Canada? I live in the Detroit metro area and am thinking about taking a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY this summer. I would be driving and the most direct route is to enter Canada via the Blue Water Bridge at Port Huron and drive across Ontario to New York State. I haven't been to Canada in a long time and I know that the documentation that you need to enter has changed. Do you now need a passport or will your license and birth certificate be enough?
Who else feels that Barry Bonds was wrong in saying what he did to Marc Ecko for buying the 756 baseball? Who else feels that Bonds is wrong in saying what he did to Marc Ecko for buying the 756 baseball for $750000. Ecko is allowing the public to vote on what to do with it: 1. give it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, 2.brand it with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown or 3.blast it into space on a rocket ship. The asterisk would represent bonds alleged steroid use. Bonds sayed that Ecko was an idiot for paying what he did for the ball. Why did Bonds care what the winning bidder did? It is legally Ecko's baseball now and he can do what he wants with it. also about what would you do if you had $750000. Just think marc ecko has tons more than that so thats not much for him. why does no one get that the $750K Ecko paid is small amount for him....Hes making TONS of cash from his clothing line.
Baseball themed places ? My boyfriend is a total baseball fanatic (Mets) and I'm trying to find baseball-themed places to take him for his birthday. An obvious choice was Cooperstown for the baseball hall of fame, but as we live in NYC it's a bit inconvenient for day or night out. Are there any other good baseball-themed places in the area, possibly a restaurant or anywhere just to go? We go to Mets games all the time, it isn't anything special or new to him. As it's his 21st birthday, I'd like to do something a bit more special.
What fun things are there to do in Cooperstown NY? I'm going to see the baseball hall of fame. I was just wondering if anyone else had any other ideas!
Can anyone give me information on good hotels to stay at in Cooperstown? I am going in early October for my husband's birthday. I am going to visit the baseball hall of fame. I read online reviews that best western had bed bugs! and i was leaning towards staying there, now i don't want to. Cooperstown- what to do in the winter? I'm going up to Cooperstown this weekend to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. What else is there to do in the winter? Places to see, eat, etc.
Cooperstown or Gaming? I will be having a party this year, and I have a chose of bringing 3 friends to Cooperstown, Ny to the baseball hall of fame, or I could have 10 friends come over for a gaming party for 4 hours. What do I choose?
Whose your favorite baseball player all time and why? My favorite baseball player all time is Rickey Henderson. He is the stolen base king career and single season wise. I'm a big time A's fan. Rickey Henderson was exciting to watch for me. He could hit, run, steal bases, homer a good number each season. He was awesome! I was glad he played with the A's a big portion of his career. He represented Oakland Athletics! Hall of Fame Cooperstown material right there!
Does anyone have access to beer root? I had some in New York when visiting The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown as a kid, and haven't seen it since. If anyone has access, can we exchange information so you can send me some?

Cooperstown or bust? Anyone going to Cooperstown for the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame Inductions ceremony. Congrats to Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken. See you men in Cooperstown.
Should baseball players who have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs be allowed into Cooperstown? I want to know what everyone thinks. Should a player be allowed into the hall of fame after a positive drug test?
What are some good places to eat in Cooperstown NY? bq:what are some fun things to do other than the baseball hall of fame
Should Bill Belichick be banned from the Hall of Fame? Let's face it, Belichick was probably destined for the HOF someday. Will this signal stealing stain tarnish his image to the point that he won't be admitted to Canten when his time comes? Baseball's Pete Rose won't be inducted in Cooperstown. Shouldn't the NFL commissioner take similar steps against the Patriots head coach?
Planning a Hall of Fame Trip? Both my boyfriend and I have wanted to go to Cooperstown ever since we were both young (a mutual love of baseball is one of the things that brought us together). We are planning on making the trip some time this autumn and are looking for suggestions as to where to stay, where to eat, etc. Any helpful suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.
ICHIRO SUZUKI: Do you think Ichiro Suzuki will be the first..........? Do you think Ichiro Suzuki will be the first Japanese baseball player to get into our hall of fame? The Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York. I think he will and is one of the best athletes ever to play baseball and one of the top outfielders to play in major League Baseball in the past 25-30 years. What is your take?
Nightlife around Cooperstown NY? I'm planning an overnight trip to see the baseball hall of fame with my buddy - we are both 27 - is there any nightlife around the area or no?
Barry Bonds ball and the taxes...? We all know that that kid who caught the ball was unable to keep it due to the tax implications. So my question is, if it does end up in Cooperstown will the baseball hall of fame have to pay the same amount? Or is that something that is "special" for the citizens and backbone of this country?
what do you think they should do with bonds 756 ball? give it to the baseball hall of fame in cooperstown? burn it with a branding iron with an asterisk? or shoot it into space? vote at http://www.vote756.com/
Cooperstown trivia? 10 points to the 1st right answer? who are the only two people inducted into the baseball hall of fame that never played baseball at the pro or college level, never coached and also never commented (writers, or broadcaster) on the game?

Should Pete Rose be instated in the Hall of Fame? Despite that he has been caught betting on baseball and never owned up to it as far as I know, I believe that the numbers he put during his great carreer speak for themselves, not to mention his work ethic and desire to win. One can simply look at quite a few greats inducted in Cooperstown over the decades that were quite unsavoury characters, including a couple that could be considered racists. Any thoughts?
It's the Clemens steroid issue really about the Hall of Fame? Think about it for a moment. If Clemens was just an average player as most of the Mitchell report players list shows, would there be such an issue about taking HGH or any other substance? These high profile players, with hall of fame numbers are really concerned about their baseball immortality, don't you think? Maybe that's why Andy Pettitte came clean right away. He must realize that his numbers probably won't get him in the hall so why make a mountain out of a mole hill? In six months who is going to care? But it's different with Roger and all of those who are hall of fame players. Don't you think it really is about Cooperstown?
How much is a Vernon Louis "Lefty" Gomez signed postcard worth? It says on the front of the postcard: "New York A.L. 1930 - 1942 Washington A.L. 1943 Won 20 or more games four times in helping yankees to win seven pennants. Led A.L. with 26-3 record, 2.33 earned run average in 1934 and with 21 victories 2.33 ERA in 1937. Paced A.L. in winning PCT. Twice, strikeouts three times. Set world series mark by winning 6 games without a loss. National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum Cooperstown, New York" The back does not have a stamp and has no writing on it. On the top left of the front of the postcard it is signed "Lefty Gomez" Does anyone know how much this is worth?
